Your picks for a graduation song

The Japanese school year ends in March. As sakura begin to emerge in the southern regions, students leave one phase in their schooling to enter another as they walk down the path towards adulthood. This correspondence is perhaps why a lot of many popular graduation songs mention sakura. I suppose it's also because they reflect one's fleeting youth.

When I was in high school I thought the perfect song for graduation was - surprise, surprise - Graduation by Vitamin C. XD However, I do remember just before the ceremony, being in a room with all my classmates (seven of us, and we were all girls) and we listened to Sarah Mclachlan's Angel and cried LOLOL.

By now I'm over graduation, I've graduated from kinder, middle school, high school, and college, and when I graduate again I don't think I'm going to bother with walking and the ceremony and all that jazz. I just want to get the paper and split for Japan.

Oh, and when I graduated from college in 2008 a song I was listening to a lot was "Kids" by MGMT. Good jam. <3

I must be weird because I don't associate a SINGLE song with graduation. Not one.

Pomp and Circumstance is the only one I think of. And I had to perform it (over and over) in band during high school for the graduates to march to, that is, until it was my turn to walk :) I guess thinking back, we always played America the Beautiful in junction with P&C. So maybe that one...? XDDD

I think for us, prom has the music associations, and graduation is about walking across the stage and the cap and gown, which they don't have (my 5th graders were like "Harry Potter" when I showed them my college grad pic).
