Trying to figure out how I feel about this.

For those of you relatively new to this lj, I lock only three types of posts - posts with questionable content (downloads), posts with questionable content (smut), and posts about work that I'd rather not have my coworkers come across accidentally. This is the third type ( Read more... )

I'm glad you're getting the sort of thing you wanted, though, yeah, Marcia is the one who's going to lose out. They're definitely going to need more people for storytimes and stuff - will Ellen still do some stuff for the kids?

If you need to talk more about this, feel free to IM me.

It's all in a state of flux at the moment. I'm not sure how it's going to fall out once we're back in the renovated library (which is when it will matter).

I need to let it sink in a bit more. And I'm not sure it will mean that anything changes in the short term. But I may IM you once it has. :)

When do you go back to the renovated library?

And I'm here if you need me!

They say another year or so. It will probably take about three months between when the the building is done and when we're ready to open.

We're going to meet with the architects a week from tomorrow to discuss furniture.

Sounds to me like this will be a win-win for you.

Still, whenever things change there's no telling how they'll work out, so I can imagine why you don't know how to feel about this.

Thanks. I thought about calling you last night but I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.

I think it's more feeling like I should be upset about this, but I'm not. I never wanted anything administrative, which means by definition that people will be promoted over me. But the Director was bending over backwards to make it clear this wasn't a demotion. In fact I gather they did this in lieu of hiring a tech person.

That sounds overall really positive. I hope it works out well for everyone involved. Are you still coming to Boskone? Because I have something for you.

I shall be there. Next on my list after thanking people (thank you for your comment) is to check which Metro North train connects with the Amtrak train and decide whether I'm driving to the station or walking.

a paradigm shift is lifechanging - i'm not surprised you feel off balance. Still, hopefully it will give you a bit of help?

The odd thing is that my new duties are pretty much what I was hired for, though revised for current technology. And the nice thing is that if it's in my job description, I'll have room to work on some of these things more.

Given all of the above that will change about your job I find nothing bad about it at all. But change always takes a while to get used to.

Thanks. I don't see anything bad about it either, but it plays to my strengths and I'm looking forward to it.
