[cringes] That's a horrible thing to do to anyone, and one of the better reasons I've read for having a designated health care advocate. So many younger people don't think they need them, but having someone who knows what you want and designated to control your health care when you cannot is one of the most important things you can do - no matter your circumstances.
That is unspeakably eerie. And it's not like memory issues are going to make the nagging feeling that your body and self don't fit together right go away, anyway. ...god.
This is horrible. It disturbs me so much that we live in a world where it's okay to retcon people simply because we aren't happy that they didn't turn out to be the way we wanted them to be. Aren't we supposed to be past that kind of narrow minded thinking?
You would think, especially with her best friend dying in the same accident, her family would feel blessed enough to still have their child. And not take it as some twisted opportunity to remind her that she wasn't what they wanted.
