This is adorable! I love how Percy is already prone to fussing over people/things as a child (of course he is!), and his and Molly's reactions to the situation are very believable.

I've sometimes thought, "Why on earth did Percy decide to keep a rat that he FOUND?," but it really does make sense that he would. As your story points out, Percy always felt out-of-place and alone, and the Weasleys can't exactly afford to buy each kid his own pet. Also, there's something special about finding an animal in the wild that doesn't seem to be frightened of you ("He has not bit me!" i.e. Look, he likes me!).

So, THANK YOU! This is incredibly cute and exactly how these events would have happened. And thank you for giving dear Peter sympathetic human emotions, which seems all too rare sometimes. :D
