This was a beautiful - and realistic - slice-of-life story. I loved how nonchalant Harry was about his sick kids and messy house and exhausted wife, and his smugness at James' power was adorable. This is the way it is sometimes. Yeah, it's their anniversary and yeah, they wanted to spend it differently, but sometimes life is messy (literally!) like that.

And the Harry being smug thing - every single Dad I know does that in response to a child doing something like hitting back in a fight, or doing something that is technically naughty, but still impressive. Kind of like Mr Weasley asking the twins how well the car flew, I guess!

Aw, lovely. Before I forget, the ending is really gorgeous. But I really like the rest, too, with Harry's daydream of the night ahead, which is dashed as soon as he walks in the door. I liked your characterisation of Ginny, too, and the kids were really sweet.
