I'm with the author of that blog - I can not believe that she is expected to defend her opinion against the onslaught of HP shipping idiocy.

But she does so with remarkable style.

I loved it, too. I think she's dead right, not only about Harry and Ginny, but Heathcliff and Cathy, etc. Not sure she's right about R/H, but that's okay.

I think she disregards a lot of other characters. I mean of ALL TIME, that's pretty intense and she's not counting literature from other counties, like Love and Collera. I'm not sure H/G belongs on that list. I think maybe Ron/Hermione do if you put some serious limitations on time periods, but I think the books focus on Harry's evolution as a character and not the couples evolution between Harry and Ginny.

Michelle Kerns is cool. She's handling the Potter craziness with grace.

I don't agree with everything she has to say about Ron and Hermione but I do agree with her view on Harry and Ginny.

It's her list, she can say whatever she wants on her own list. Having Harry and Ginny (over Ron and Hermione even) on it isn't the end of the world, other shippers.

Ginny is by far the most hated character in the HP universe. Her character will continue to be hated. The films have not helped this. You have a director who (like WB) support Harry/Hermione. The real stars of the film are Watson and Radcliffe. They're both bankable stars that happen to be very good looking. The film characters have replaced the characters in the books. More people watch the films then read the books. You have a herione (Emma Watson) who is a hot blond, with a great body. No big teeth or bushy hair. You have Ron who is protrayed as the ultimate moron. The good looking hero has to have the good looking herione. Bonnie Wright is a very good actress and pretty, but compared to Watson...no contest.

So the character Ginny will continue to be one to kick around. She was a minor character who walked off with the hero. Many people don't like that. I think the biggest argument against her is for that reason.

I think the biggest argument against her is for that reason. I agree on that point. I also believe that 99% of the hate is because of that. I've heard other says that they would have wanted Harry to die than he in a "happy ever after" ending. But I think that defeats the purpose of Harry's life, and in essence JRK would be betraying a character with his death ( ... )

I have to agree with you about the silence aspect. I know that I didn't discover online fandom til March 2007 (holy cow, that's 2 years ago!) and yet I had shipped Harry/Ginny since CoS. I didn't even know what shipping was, but I still did it :D
