Ruby character study -- her end game

This post is from let me say I love you tumblr .  The tags that developed over the reblogging of this post made me wonder if we were watching the same show. After reading their tags, I had to post my own reply. I don't really care if I anger anyone with  my opinion but I can't believe they saw her character as anything but a manipulative demon.

I think that people like to romanticise Ruby because the actress that, ultimately, played her married 'Sam' in real life.

Some fans have a lot of problems sifting fiction from reality and look at Genevieve and Jared and think that it is all part of the big 'Sam loves Ruby' arc (which never existed). Jared - as much as I love him - perpetuates this with senerios at cons when he claims that Sam wanted to run away in the Impala with Ruby and that Ruby is his fave character. Jared is not Sam - Gen is not Ruby - the fictional Ruby was a manipulative bitch who played Sam from start to finish - there was lust sure - but love pah!

Oh, I think Ruby is fond of Sam in the same way a butcher is fond of their favourite knife. She had been sincere when she claimed that Sam was going to be rewarded beyond belief, 'cause I guess it's the ultimate honor and reward to be worn by the devil.

So, I think Ruby loved Sam in her own twisted sort of way; but not in the way regular people would have.
