I think all the editing did wonders. This was a powerful chapter. Ella's proof of why the intrusion was wrong was pointed and worked magic on Koray.

The idea that she had slipped to Karn was interesting. It made her seem more nuanced. I'm still with Ella on not fully trusting her, but it seems she's not the enemy she had seemed.

Uh oh. And here comes the start of the troubles. How much longer does Ella have before the baby's born?

She writes in her journal that she was 14 weeks along, firmly in the second trimester. 26 weeks to go...., and Donna is a month away from full conversion to Time Lord Donna. Ooh, it's gonna get interesting when she wakes up! She should have some Time sense, so should know she's in the past... the Doctor is in for a bit of a rough time of it. I sure hope that Ella gets to her first and can give her those numbers secretly.

I've been unwell all weekend and yet had obligations. So my alertness wasn't at its sharpest. Even though I remember reading that line, I somehow thought the subsequent events were much further along than that.

I know, so much is happening there that it does seem like things should be further. Pregnancies, even normal ones, though, seem to go on forever! At the same time, it seems to go by so fast and, suddenly, there's the baby! Maybe it's all "timey-wimey..."

Sorry you aren't feeling well; I do hope you get better soon.

So Koray was a bit of a rebel herself, wasn't she? That's interesting how she studied with the Sisters of Karn for several regenerations in order to steal the secrets of natural conception and childbirth. I'm glad she now has a sense of exactly why Ella was upset. Koray was treating her like an inferior species, an animal to be threatened when it didn't obey, and Ella already had experience with mind invasion from Ten. We'll see how much this truce lasts, but at least the Doctor will be there now for all of her appointments to protect both the baby and her ( ... )

I had to think back on all the Doctor's regenerations and he's never "died" of old age, except in his first incarnation! I've actually seen that one (what little footage exists of it). He passes out before he regenerates. I imagine that Koray's lived a relatively peaceful life, especially when she was on Karn, so most of the time she's lived to be an old person before she regenerates (I haven't explored the possibility that she could have been male at some point...that would be fun!). I'd guess she's at least 2,000 years old at this point, which might explain why she doesn't seem to have patience for unruly humans like Ella who only live a fraction of a Time Lord's lifespan.
