Don't Diss Harry Potter.

Dec 04, 2010 06:33

Something that genuinely upsets me is the popular underestimation of the Harry Potter series, and the overly-common generalisation that the series is nothing more than a "book about magic". What's more upsetting is that these [false] judgements originate from the people who have never picked up a Harry Potter book in their entire existence-- nor ( Read more... )

Wow..It was a really good post, I think. And I guess I feel something similar, if not the same. I can't now express all my impressions after this post properly, sorry. 'Cause I'm very touched by this.
Thank you very much for such a wonderful post!

Friendship is sometimes the best family, and not even our heroes are perfect.

This is excellent, and if you don't mind, I'm going to link back to this?

You have no idea how happy I am right now! It has always bugged me that so many people still refer to Harry Potter as a childrens book. Just because the main characters are children doesn't mean that it's (only) a childrens book. Nobody would refer to "The boy in the striped pyjama" as a childs book, even though the protagonist is an 8 Year-old boy.

I love your whole reasoning. I also learned so much from the Harry Potter series for example: I lost my fear of the dark just because Dumbledore once said:"It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more." Since then I always told myself that nothing can happen and that just because you can't see anything dosen't mean that there is something.

I'm totally babbeling, sorry ^^

All I wanted to say is that this text made my day and now I can go to bed smiling, hopefully dreming of the wonderus world of Harry Potter ...

Thank you so much for posting!

Lovely post, and very true. I can't really add much on to it because you nailed everything - or at least the most important aspects. ^ ^

Stumbled upon this via a link from the LJ HP fans.

Loved your short reflection. One thing reading Harry Potter has taught me is that it's ok to make mistakes, it's ok not to be perfect. No one gets it right from the first step. And so we keep learning.

Sometimes I think Harry Potter was probably one of the few things that made my childhood/ teenage life bearable and realistic.
