Because what I need in my life is another TV show...

Watched the Awake pilot this morning.  Anyone else watch it?  I've been intrigued by the concept since I first heard about the show over the summer, and the pilot has definitely piqued my interest further.  Jason Issacs is (as expected) very good, and I think Wilmer Valderrama could grow on me.  However, like Once Upon a Time, I worry that it won't ( Read more... )

It's only too much television if it's distracting you from feeding the fanfiction monster inside me.

Hahah, that probably won't happen. Right now it's my bloody dissertation distracting me from fanfic. Grumble grumble.

Yes, that's my worrry; I watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, but how can they sustain the concept? I feel that way about another one of my shows, too, Person of Interest. I sort of wish American TV would take a cue from British TV and do some short seasons. Or just outright only plan on a limited run of a show. *sigh*

I am soooo behind on OUAT. I didn't have cable for over a month back in the fall and I spent weeks trying to get caught up. Still behind on it & Bones both. SIgh.

I was sort of going off OUAT and then they did their Beauty and the Beast episode and I'm so hooked again.

Ah, Bones. I've been having a hard time staying caught up with that one since I'm never sure when it's actually going to be on. Emily Deschanel's pregnancy wrecked havoc with their schedule, I think.

I definitely agree about British TV vs American TV; short seasons make a HUGE difference to the production quality and writing. Having lived here four years now, I've really come to appreciate the way the Brits do pretty much everything. (Except pizza. Can't get good pizza anywhere in this country. haha.)

I've always been a fan of the theory of alternate realities. That every decision we make, splits off and creates a "world" where the decision was never made. As Jason Isaacs explains to his therapist that he has no intention of ever letting go of either reality, of ever "getting better" seems to suit him just fine. I'm betting that in reality he's in a coma, and this is his brain trying to heal.

Yeah, I really like the whole idea of the show, I just don't know how they're going to get more than a season or two out of it.
The coma theory occurred to me too, although I hope it isn't as straightforward as that. I like that it's a complex, intelligent show. Don't get too many of those these days.
