- Hey Arnold and Harry Potter combined in some way (maybe playing with ( Read more... )

Not sure if this is quite what you're looking for, but I made this Viking!Helga icon awhile ago for my own amusement. :)

So cute! I've seen this episode 147 times but I still get all warm and fuzzy. Thank you!

I'd suggest downloading Gimp if you don't have access to Photoshop - it's free and has a lot of the same capabilities.

I haven't heard of Gimp before, but it sounds like something good to try. I'm new, so I don't want to spend all kinds of money until I know what I'm doing. This is a really great idea. Thanks!

I couldn't afford full blown photoshop shoftware, but I got photoshop elements for about $100(AUD). It's not as complex as the full version, but it does everything I need to do to make icons :)

In terms of making icons that look good, I'd suggest keeping your eye out for icon tutorials in different communities. Everytime I see them, I read them. Even if I don't actually use the techniques I learn each time, it gives me a better appreciation for what image editing software can do. It also opens up heaps of inspiration!

Really good idea. I didn't know that Adobe did a starter version for people with simpler needs. If I find that I am really getting into icon making, then I'll definitely look into this. Thank you!
