Books I Just Requested from the Library

Jan 14, 2010 12:24

It's been too long since I actually sat down and, you know, read something (other than a comic book) -- this really has been the best new year ever; I've been so busy having fun that I've had hardly a second to spare -- so today I went a little bit nuts:

American Gods by Neil Gaiman ( Read more... )

lists, books, ryan knows how to read!

I have the first three books of the Angus, Thongs... books if you want me to ship them to you rather than waiting for the library. Then you can have them all at the same time.

I appreciate that, but the first book is already waiting for me at the library. I'm planning on getting it tomorrow!

That Christopher Moore book is actually a sequel. You might want to look into getting Bloodsucking Fiends first. I'd also highly recommend Lamb: the Gospel According to Biff and A Dirty Job, two of my favorite Moore books.

Also, I really enjoyed American Gods and I too have never read Perks of Being a Wallflower (even though I've had it on my bookshelf for probably ten years now) so don't feel bad.

Ouch. That's what I get for not doing the research, I guess.

As it turns out, my roommate actually owns American Gods, so I can read it anytime. I could, actually, be reading it right this second. Oh, and here's the best part: He only recently bought it, and made a not-small deal of telling me right after! Unless I'm mistaken, my response at the time was something like, "Ooooh, coolness! That's supposed to be really good, I mean, even better than you'd think it would be because it's him; I've pretty much always meant to read it!" . . . So yeah.

And it's not that I feel bad about having not read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but I'm pretty sure I came this close to reading it in middle school (I had heard there was a character who was gay, or at least implied to be), but I guess there were too many other books in my pile at the time, and it got lost in the shuffle or something.
