*reads through the obituary twice, face blank, with maybe the slightest hint of something that passes quickly about the eyes* *raises his chin and folds the paper up once more, tucking his seat neatly under the cluttered table* *tosses it into the empty grate on his way through to the kitchen*
*watches him silently, leaning against the wall next to the fireplace* *when Augustus gets to his feet, he hides his face in his hands* *muffled* Oh fuck.
*doesn't look up as he passes, but inhales a bit shakily* *pours his cold coffee down the sink and returns into the living room, his back to the fire place* *pulls on his robe and does it up slowly, button by button*
*lowers his hands when Augustus comes back into the living room, his breathing a little shallow* *observes him avidly, taking in every detail, all the familiar movements, even though he's never seen him do up his robe before, which he realises only after a long moment* *swallows visibly, but finds himself unable to look away* *very badly wants to embrace him and hold him close, and knowing that it's impossible makes a wave of sadness crash over him*
*growls at work* Won't budge, the sucker. :(( Will be back later tonight, around your 8 o'clock. :) Hope your work is going well.
*listens to Molly explain what happened then storms away after breaking his glass by throwing it against the wall* *runs out of the Burrow and keeps running until can't possibly go any farther and stumbles to the frozen ground, sobbing*
*kneels down next to him, but not too close, fingers splayed on his thighs* *is silent, the muscles in his jaw clench from time to time, and he has to swallow more than once* *after a while he pulls him towards him, one hand at the nape of his neck and presses him close*
*goes to him after a bit of initial resistance, breath hitching* *stays against him only a moment before he pulls back and starts punching Gideon with both fists, grunting with sobs of effort with every pummel*
*doesn't try to stop Bill punching him, just holding him close, so he doesn't slip away* *watches him intently, his eyes with a slightly glassy look in them*
Oh Bill. *sniffles* This is heart-breaking. Fred's reaction made me go very teary-eyed, and Bill's reaction has Gideon that way. *shares her tissues*
Re. Dafydd as a middle name: No objections from Gideon certainly (he's very fond of his father), but maybe Bill should ask his mother about that? :)
Emmeline reads the death notice the first time withour realising that it's theirs. She reads it again, pausing to consider the Welsh. Then she takes a pair of scissors out of her desk drawer and cuts the note from the paper, she uses a Muggle paper clip to attach it to piece of catalogue card and files it an old catalogue drawer on her desk.
She carefully replaces the scissors in the drawer. She takes the bottle and a glass from the side table to her left and pours herself a measure of whiskey. She doesn't drink it, but rather scowls at the remainder of the newspaper.
I love that Fred and George have their 'and' even with Ron there.
*watches her cut the notice from the paper, his face blank* *almost smiles when she files it away, because it's something he's seen her do quite often*
Hee, they couldn't *not* have it, it sounded very weird without it. :D
*stands next to her and looks down at the newspaper, a bit taken aback when he sees the Miss Manners column, because it's a piece that he edited in the beginning of the week* *takes her glass out of her hand (in a metaphysical way) and downs it in one go, knowing full well it won't help, but doing it anyway*
*frowns a bit, nibbling on her thumbnail as she glances from Bill to the gravemarkers, still a little confused* *shifts her weight from one foot to the other, and cocks her head slightly*
*jaw tightens then he sighs, trying to get his 15 year old brain to process an answer that's good enough for a 4 year old* Because there are bad people in the world who do bad things like make people have to go away forever.

Oh, Gideon, you and Fabian were taken from us too soon.

I'd have preferred going on living, that's for certain.

I suppose that drink's out of the question now>
How close were Gideon and Remus do you suppose?
Reply
Yes, I suppose it is. Although I wouldn't mind sharing a bottle of firewhiskey now, even if it's only metaphysical.
Good question. I have absolutely no idea. You know Gideon from his interaction with Draco already, do you think he and Remus would get along?

Yeah. Uncles. Gideon and Fabian. You didn't get to meet them. But they were the most brilliant people ever.

Why, though?
