International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy 1692
Be it enacted by the Chief Warlock's most sage council, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and assembled Interrogators, in this present Wizengamot assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
SECTION THREE: STATUTES PERTAINING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF MYSTERIES
1.
---(1) A person who is or has been-
(a) an employee of the Ministry of Magic (Department of Mysteries) or Ministry contractor; or
(b) a person notified that he is subject to the provisions of this subsection,
is guilty of an offence if without lawful authority he discloses any information, document or other article relating to research being carried out in the Department which is or has been in his possession by virtue of his position as a member of the Department or in the course of his work while the notification is or was in force.
---(2) The reference in subsection (1) above to disclosing information relating to research or intelligence includes a reference to making any statement which purports to be a disclosure of such information or is intended to be taken by those to whom it is addressed as being such a disclosure.
---(3) A person who is or has been an employee of the Ministry of Magic (Department of Mysteries) or Ministry contractor is guilty of an offence if without lawful authority he makes a damaging disclosure of any information, document or other article relating to research being carried out in the Department which is or has been in his possession by virtue of his position as such but otherwise than as mentioned in subsection (1) above.
---(4) For the purposes of subsection (3) above a disclosure is damaging if-
(a) it causes damage to the work of, or of any part of, the Department of Mysteries or the Ministry of Magic; or
(b) it is of information or a document or other article which is such that its unauthorised disclosure would be likely to cause such damage or which falls within a class or description of information, documents or articles the unauthorised disclosure of which would be likely to have that effect.

A person who is or has been an employee of the Ministry of Magic (Department of Mysteries) or Ministry contractor is guilty of an offence if without lawful authority he makes a damaging disclosure of any information, document or other article relating to defence which is or has been in his possession by virtue of his position as such.

---(1) A person who is or has been an employee of the Ministry of Magic (Department of Mysteries) or Ministry contractor is guilty of an offence if without lawful authority he makes a damaging disclosure of-
(a) any information, document or other article relating to research carried out within the Department, or to any of the projects detailed in subsection 7: muggle relations; or
(b) any confidential information, document or other article which was obtained from a State other than the United Kingdom or an international organisation,
being information or a document or article which is or has been in his possession by virtue of his position as a employee of the Ministry of Magic (Department of Mysteries) or Ministry contractor.
4.
---(1) A person guilty of an offence under any provision of this Act other than section 8(1), (4) or (5) shall be liable-
(a) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve years or a fine or both;
(b) on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding eighteen months or a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum or both.
---(2) A person guilty of an offence under section 8(1), (4) or (5) above shall be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months or a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale or both.
5.
---(1) In section 24(2) of the Auror and Hit Wizarding Evidence Act 1922 (arrestable offences) in paragraph (b) for the words "the International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy 1511" there shall be substituted the words "the International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy 1692" and after that paragraph there shall be inserted- " (bb) offences under any provision of the International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy 1692 except section 8(1), (4) or (5);"
---(2) Section 9(1) of the [1692 c. 28.] International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy 1692 (search warrants) shall have effect as if references to offences under that Act included references to offences under any provision of this Act other than section 8(1), (4) or (5); and the following provisions of the Auror and Hit Wizarding Evidence Act 1922, that is to say-
(a) section 9(2) (which excludes items subject to legal privilege and certain other material from powers of search conferred by previous enactments); and
(b) paragraph 3(b) of Schedule 1 (which prescribes access conditions for the special procedure laid down in that Schedule),
shall apply to section 9(1) of the said Act of 1692 as extended by this subsection as they apply to that section as originally enacted.
---(3) Section 8(4) of the [1920 c. 75.] International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy 1692 (exclusion of public from hearing on grounds of national safety) shall have effect as if references to offences under that Act included references to offences under any provision of this Act other than section 8(1), (4) or (5).
6.
---(1) In times of war or periods of Unrest as deemed applicable by the Wizengamot or a body of Interrogators numbering not less than one dozen in cases of national emergency, section 5 of this document may be deemed to have been revoked, or subject to amendment by said body.
