Oh, God, what happened to George Clooney's face?! Yeah, you know, I have no problem with people shipping whatever they like, I just don't like being insulted because I like something that is popular. It seems really silly to me.

This, entirely! I've never really understood how shipwars start for this reason, really. I can't seem to bring myself to feel enraged that someone likes something that doesn't interest me.

Well, one thing to say in respose to this wank: FAN-SNOBBERY, don't we all hate it T_T? Why do people have to read so deep in to shipping? I'm sorry to say this, because I know that our favourite pairings mean a lot to us, but at the end of the day: IT'S JUST A BLOODY PAIRING.

I've really needed to say that last part for quite a while now. Thanks for providing me with the opportuntity to do so.

My thoughts exactly. As much fun as I have with my ships, it's just fandom.

Thank you. I like popular 'ships that have canon backing. I honestly don't care for pairings that don't have significant subtext, and, you're right, that doesn't make me a sheep. It means I have different preferences from some people, and that's okay. And I generally won't read fics that have OC countries that I don't approve of.

For example, this Jewish girl doesn't approve of Israel right now. So, I won't read Israel OCs in the same way I won't buy Israeli products, simply because a) most people writing about Israel honestly have no idea about Judaism and other such important things and, b) I'm mad at Israel. That doesn't make me an anti-Semite. I don't think I can be antisemitic. It's kind of, you know, an oxymoron.

If I like GerIta and SuFin and Giripan and Spamano, so be it, and if I don't care for Germancest and Hungary/Cameroon/Belgium, well, that's my life. Thanks for this wank!

lol who even thinks that

I pretty much only like "mainstream" (usually canon, and generally for that reason) pairings. I'm not a big shipper to begin with, so I'm more comfortable shipping pairings that have canonical basis because I feel like that's a part of the series anyway. Sex/romance isn't something I like to focus on unless it's cardinal to said series. I dunno, I DON'T FEEL DUMB??? But obviously rarepair shippers are the highbloods and would know better than me, bluh bluh. u___u

I wish people would stop taking pairings so damn seriously. Let people ship what they want to ship, and you can ship whatever you want to ship. Telling people your ship is "better" than theirs is not only irritating, but childish imo.

Honestly, the only people who actually get into these petty arguments are the ones that feel threatened about the popularity of their pairing/OTP... I see it most commonly between USUK & FrUK + PruHun & AusHun shippers, and people have already started bashing Romania just because A FEW PEOPLE have drawn him with Hungary. Jesus, people! It's just fanart, cool your jets! We don't even know anything about his character yet!

We're probably both just incredibly lucky. I literally ship World/World (throw anything at me; I'll give it a try at least once) and I haven't received any hate either for being a pairings whore. XD

And god, I HATE that argument. True, I really enjoy it when a pairing/story has historical basis, but I see it more as a 'fun fact' rather than "OOH, THAT MAKES THIS STORY BETTER/MORE CREDIBLE NOW". Just because something has historical basis doesn't mean people should be forced to like it AND IT DOESN'T MAKE IT CANON FFFFF- /rage. That's another pet peeve of mine too. XD; "Oh, but the Cold War so America/Russia is totally canon lololol~"
