Original Request: I was just on the Crowning Moments of Heartwarming page on TVTropes when this caught my eye in the "Real Life" section:
"*The British Royal Guards playing the "Star Spangled Banner" in Buckingham Palace the day after the September 11 attacks. If nations are people and anthems are their lullabies, then here was Mother England singing to her grieving American child.
* I'm frankly surprised there no Hetalia fanart of this, then."
It's always struck me, hard, that last sentence. Because I can imagine England singing for America, and it breaks my heart. So please, writers, artists... make me cry.
Summary: England did his best to not cry during the service.
