Original Request: Alfred F. Jones (age 7) is completely obsessed with space and aliens. He wants to be an astronaut when he grows up and would love nothing more than to get to meet a real life alien! He feels he's gotten his chance when a new kid shows up in his class - Ivan Braginski (age 7 1/2.) Ivan talks funny, probably because he's not used to speaking with earthlings, and he has a book with weird looking writing in it (must be alien language!) and he says he's from far away, which can only mean outer space! Alfred has no doubt in his mind that Ivan is an alien, and decides to befriend him (while not letting on that he knows his secret, because what if it scared his new alien pal off?)
Ivan is of course a completely normal kid who's just having trouble learning English and doesn't fit in at all. Alfred confuses him to no end, but he's been kind of nice, and Ivan doesn't have any friends in America, so he starts warming up after a while...
Bonus: Ivan becomes a target for bullies at his new school, which Alfred tries to protect him from (because Ivan might zap them with his alien gun if they make him mad! ...Or he might just start crying. Which is almost worse.)

Summary: Alfred's dream of encountering an alien has finally come true, and is - even better - in his class! Except Ivan is no alien, just a very shy and awkward kid trying to adjust to a new country and language.
