Original Request: The Nation-tans as similar to the 12 Kingdoms Kirin...But Not.
In the 12 Kingdoms series, the Kirins have two shapes - a human-looking one and a Kirin one. They choose their King/Queen (well, technically speaking, the 'Will of Heaven' does that, I suppose, but they are the beings who actually do it), and when that King/Queen 'loses their way', they get sick (onto death, if the King/Queen doesn't shape up or abdicate). One of the other notable characteristics of a 12 Kingdoms Kirin is that they can't stand blood or death, at all. It quite literally makes them sick.
For this request, I want the Nation-tans (1) to be the one who either 'chooses' or 'acknowledges' the Leader of that Nation (whether they're actually doing the 'choosing' and stuff 'all by themselves' is another matter) (2)To be able to shapeshift. (3)Blood and death doesn't hurt them like it would the 12 Kingdoms Kirin, but bad things happening to the country and people itself would. (4)Leaders 'losing their way' (or just being bad leaders) wouldn't kill them, but it would hurt them since their country/nation is being badly governed.
Summary: Germany grows up quickly, but never transforms. Yet others repeatedly mention a strange cat that wanders around his house...
