DISCUSSION: Official Community Posts?
So. I have a suggestion/question for the community at large that I would like to engage everyone in a discussion about regarding the current state of the community.
This is not a post meant to be inflammatory by any means, nor am I suggesting that I do not want to see people's works of art/fanfictions/pictures. I think that they all play a vital role in keeping the community alive, and people's creativity and support is what makes this community great.
However, we are a VERY large community, with several dozen posts per day. Often I've been away from LJ for a day or so and come back (or try to check from my phone) and, no matter how well I check my list, I tend to miss some sort of official stuff. There have been a few times I've missed anime episode posts, and more than a few times that I've missed official manga translations or new manga posts from the website.
I was curious to know what the community and mods would think about a community specifically for "official" posts. It's been a suggestion that's been rolling around in my head for a while, and I think it would really help a lot of people get in to the fandom more easily if there was a community where discussion could take place on official topics only.
I know there is an archive for the strips, and I know there are tags on this community for the anime and the manga strips. I am not negating any of the efforts anyone has made up until this point. They are wholeheartedly and greatly appreciated, as are continued archival, retrieval and translations. The work everyone does is an act of love. I am also not advocating less participation from community members. I am, however, possibly suggesting a way to make new content and new official posts more accessible and easily found, both by seasoned members and newcomers. One cannot deny there is a LOT of information here, and a lot of tags. My hope would be that a community for official posts/manga/anime eps would be a springboard for people to get into the fandom.
