I never thought the "touch " in BTT was because they were perverted.

I do like the big brother trio, but I would stick with BBT because its already been integrated into the fandom.

I mean if it becomes popular within the fandom, than we should definitely use it because to say those characters are perverted is really inaccurate and gives others (like newer hetalians) the wrong idea of the characters.

Bad touch trio also rolls off the tongue nicely, in my opinion, opposed to BBT of BFT.

So I guess we should keep the old terminology, but let the fandom know how it doesn't fit well. I agree that Spain, France, and Prussia are "the party animals" but not perverted.

I'll go away now.

The entire intent is to make it popular in the fandom.
I too didn't get the implication of the original fan name until I learnt how many read it that way. I just think if it's possible to change it, it would be easier to avoid controversy (and to distinguish fans with one interpretation from fans with the other).

Why go away? You provided a perfectly valid opinion.

Many people use Bad Friends Trio, so perhaps promoting this one will cause less of a shift required for individuals who are used to the term BTT? BFT is also a more literal translation from Japanese fandom terms (and other languages not being impacted by the English use of BTT).

I agree. I've always used "Bad Friends Trio". The Japanese is 悪友トリオ, literally "bad companion trio". Nothing about touching...

I think bad friends trio is a fine name, it's just that it's so close to the other name that I think it's easier to confuse the two for which is the official one. (I mean for fans who don't have it in front of their nose when they talk about it, obviously. ;))

It would be best to promote BFT, because that is a term that is already in use. It's easier than trying to get an entirely new term to stick.

I always use "Bad Friends Trio" when referring to these three. I was never really fond of the "BTT" name fandom gave. I'll probably continue to call them BFT.

I think I mostly use Bad Friends Trio as well, for the reasons you mentioned in the post. While it's a nice idea, my concern with the BBT is that there are a several other characters who could be called big brothers too, like England and China.
