In the Kirkland household, the lights were all out in the living room. Alfred was sitting on an armchair. Ludwig and Gilbert were sitting on the sofa adjacent to Alfred's armchair. The atmosphere of the room vaguely reeked of something sombre -- a deeper sort of sombre than having all the lights turned off.
"So, Alfred," Gilbert said. "Okay, Ludwig, turn on the light."
"You could've just opened the lights here, vater," Ludwig said.
Gilbert crossed his arms. "Just turn on the light, boy. It makes us look cool."
Ludwig let out a self-suffering sigh and turned on the lamp. The light coming from the lamp hit Alfred's face squarely, making him squeeze his eyes shut. The light, frankly, was blinding him like a motherfucker. He could see spots of light under his eyelids

And it was the first time Alfred had ever seen his Uncle Gilbert look so serious and melancholic.
Alfred sat down with a huff. He looked away from the light.
"So how are you and Matthew planning to go back to each other's families?" Ludwig asked, hoping to draw the mood away from the melancholy it had plummeted to.
"We still don't know," Alfred muttered, "but we'll find a way."
"I sure hope you do." Gilbert then grinned as he looked at Alfred. "Artie's a monster when he's angry, and I doubt you've ever seen what Francis is like when he's arguing with Artie."
"They're a real passionate duo, aren't they?"
Ludwig just rolled his eyes when he noticed that the mood had abruptly turned for the better. It seemed as if he wasn't needed anymore, and so was the darkness that enveloped most of the room. He stood up and went to switch on the lights. Mister Kirkland would be back soon with the groceries, and Ludwig doubted that the lack of lighting would make the man not doubt that something was up.

Gilbo you dork! xD I can't get over the fact he "interrogated" Alfred. I do wonder now if Arthur has a clue because if the relatives can pick out the twins surely the parents can right? *over thinking*

Francis woke up with the rays of the sun caressing his face and a morning breeze whispering its secrets in his ears. He smiled a lazy, sleepy smile. It was a great morning. Even greater since Alfred was back.
He climbed out of his bed and changed his clothes. He went out of his room and went into the kitchen to start breakfast. He was thinking of putting in Alfred's favorite amongst the meals he would be making.
It was when he'd gotten to the refrigerator that he noticed that he wasn't alone in the kitchen. He blinked and listened to the sizzling coming from the stove. He turned around to see who had woken up so early.
Possibly Feliciano, he thought. Off to be a dear and cook breakfast for them.
He didn't exactly expect to see his own son in front of a stove and looking like a professional with bacon flipping. Since when did Alfred learn how to cook something without burning it? Francis was amazed, no doubt. It seemed as if Alfred had picked up a lot of things in camp

"They don't have a damn timetable," Lovino said, mixing the pancake batter too roughly. "I always tell him to quit and find a new job, because he can with his resume and shit, but he keeps saying that he likes his work
