So I was just reading a book about the Russian Revolution and it said America was the first to recognise the new provisional government in March...

Well, judging by what the OP said, I take it they meant the March(February) Revolution, since A) they mentioned the recognition of the Duma (Provisional Government) and B) They said March.

And really, the Russian revolution took place over such a tight amount of time that you could consider both the March(February) and November(October) Revolutions two parts of a whole. Not to mention that the Socialist movements were going on throughout the whole mess.

I figured Russia would be in an interesting mood. I mean he's crazy by now, but a lot of people were happy about taking down the old government, but they were still starving, and dying in World War 1...
