Giripan - au rich!Greece hires Japan to be his housekeeper. anonymous March 4 2012, 08:10:12 UTC
while playing around with
http://www.laurahughes.com/cgi-bin/presents.cgi
I got "The Greek Count's Innocent Housekeeper" and couldn't help but think of Greece/Japan.

Greece is a Rich Idiot Philosopher With No Day Job (well, other than Philosophy, but that doesn't exactly pay.) He's messy, and his habit of picking up tons of stray cats is making his house even messier. His wealth was inherited from his late mother, but ever since she died he's been a mess in both his finances and his house. So he hires Japan to make things nice and tidy and help him balance his finances.

Bonus if Greece is ah....clothing challenged a lot of the time, (much to Japan's embarrassment and arousal)

The Philosopher and the Philhellenist [Prologue][2/2] anonymous March 6 2012, 00:43:15 UTC
Karpusi - now known to any possible spectator as Heracles, the philosopher behind a series of related publications - stares at the volume in Kiku’s hands. He raises his head after a pregnant pause and says, “Why?”

Kiku frowns, fuelled by bewilderment at Heracles’ query. “I don’t understand...”

“Why do you collect my books?” Heracles asks, easing the copy from Kiku’s grip. “It doesn’t take me long to write them. Not many people read them at all. I only publish them because I need to buy bread.”

The silence returns. Kiku remembers an old phrase in that moment, a phrase he finds applicable, even though he had hoped it wouldn’t be proven correct. It’s nothing philosophical and deep, like the writings of Karpusi, but it’s true nonetheless; ‘never meet your heroes.’

“Hey, Heracles!” a voice calls, a third person entering the fray. “Where are you nowKiku looks up at the sound of heavy footsteps, and sees a sharply-suited man emerge from the wings before marching across the stage. He has bright green eyes narrowed behind wiry glasses, ( ... )

(Not OP) This is a very interesting beginning. The characterizations aren't quite what I expected, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as it's unexpected in a "new spin on preexisting characterizations" way instead of a "horribly OOC" way so far, and your prose is very good.

I don't think you need to change anything at this stage; just go ahead and write out what you're planning and it should be fine. :)

I'm really not a Giripan fan, but I absolutely loved this beginning. I really like your writing style--it's very unique and engaging.

(Also not!OP) The characterisations aren't how these two are usually portrayed, true, but I don't feel that they were terribly OOC, or that it was bad. And as this is an AU, I think it's nice to have a different take on the characters, since writing them the same way over and over again can sometimes get slightly mundane/boring... at least from my own experience with writing these two ^^;

Your prose is good too, and I quite like the verse you've set up here. So, I would definitely like to read more of it (when you have more time to write, of course). The only concrit I have is that er, try not to use too many archetypes? It gets a little jarring at times.

Other than that, I still think this is pretty good :)

I usually am not fond of Giripan fills because I find them repetitive and the pairing in general holds very little interest for me. However I took a chance and followed the link to this fill and I am very glad I did.

The way you write both of them is refreshingly different without being, like the other anons said, too OOC. The way you write is also different from the usual and I'm hooked. Can't wait for the next update!

This is a really cute and sweet beginning. :)

And no, I haven't really got any requests or suggestions. You're doing fine, anyways!
