However, I noticed quite a number of unfilled England/Japan prompts, and I just felt kinda bad for fans who don't get enough fills of their favourite pairs, so I thought no harm posting this for them, yeah? I don’t… really know what happened here, lol. Basically, I’m attempting to move out of this bout of writer’s block, so this is a short, half-metaphorical (I hope) fill on the Dissolution of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance with the two sharing quiet time before they officially aren’t “friends” anymore. It’s terribly hard being a nation sometimes, isn’t it?
Also, I apologize for any OCC-ness. Iggy, why are you so hard to write ;_;

It’s irrational, he reasons as he takes a sip, impressive brows furrowed together. The cold kiss of autumn brushes lightly against his cheeks and nose, and he shivers.
It’s irrational and unbecoming of you, England reasons, chiding himself - or tries to - and nurses the tea closer to him, looking to distract himself. From what, he isn’t quite sure. (Maybe he is, but it’s unlikely he will want to address it. Japan certainly won’t

Well, I'm not a big fan of England/Japan (although I ship everyone, so no big deal), but I decided to give this a shot because it's short. I have to say that I really liked it. It has a quiet, calm atmosphere, which doesn't show up much on the meme (so much drama and silliness!) so this was refreshing.
I didn't know that the alliance was only 21 years, though. I love learning little things from random fills like this one <3

I don't actually ship England/Japan romantically either (I like them more as normal friends). This was written as part of a challenge and for a friend who loves this pairing.
I'm glad you gave it a chance and that you liked it too. I was going for a more subtle/subdued feel and ambiguity (so that non-shippers can enjoy it more as a friendship-gen-fill). So I'm happy that showed in the writing.
Aaah yeah, their alliance only lasted officially from 1902-1923. They have been in contact way before that though. And I always like throwing in little historical trivia into my writings xD
This was not originally written for the kinkmeme, hence why I'm putting it under the "Anything Goes" prompt: http://hetalia-kink.livejournal.com/11411.html?thread=23682451#t23682451

Still, I hope readers will enjoy.
