Ludwig's comment about inefficiency made me giggle like a two year old. Fffft. And then I was and am horrified by how wrong he got everything and holy CRAP talk about putting your foot in it. I was actually yelling at the screen "No!!! No, don't talk to Alfred!! You're wrong, y'hear me?! Wrong!!" Obviously that didn't do any good. D:
And you, Matthew! Shame on you for not correcting him!! You know how Mr. Jones is, so you SHOULD HAVE REALIZED that Ludwig having that talk with him would hurt him so baddly. *smacks Matthew over the head* Idiot. /ranting
A brief, surprised inhale. The rustling of sheets. “Matthew,” said Mr. Jones, and then in a quicker panic, “Matthew, don’t hang up-” This... Pretty much made me cry. Oh Alfred... What did he say to you to make you scared like that... *bawls* Alfred being afraid utterly breaks my heart... It's so... Opposite to how he normally is and hdeisufhfjfowhdjf T^T
May I humbly demand request Alfred's POV where Ludwig has that 'talk' with him?

aldsk XD XD XD I, TOO, WAS YELLING WHEN I WROTE IT.
Poor Matthew. XD;; I think he just got totally overwhelmed. He's got a great flight/fight response that gets jammed all wrong sometimes. They're both so dense; sometimes they're going to hurt each other on accident.
You may humbly request, but... that talk would be very long to write. XD;; It spanned more than a few hours and had its ups and downs. And I'd still write it, don't get me wrong - but I kinda want to save it for Ludwig's side story that I plan to write at the end of this.
However. Please have the aftermath directly after the talk as a sheepish peace offering? ♥ See below. ILU~
“Alfred.”
He buried his face in the pillow, yanking his fleece blanket over him without a word. It was childish-and kind of stupid because Ludwig never let him sulk in peace, even that time he locked himself in the public library’s dark room for half a day-but Alfred couldn’t help it. He didn’t want to have this conversation anymore. He didn’t want to think about this

Ludwig cleared his throat. “I-didn’t want to see you hurt. I realize that I may not have… actually accomplished avoiding that, by doing this.”
There was nothing he wanted to say to that. To be honest, if there was hurt, it hadn’t arrived yet. Alfred was too busy trying to frantically toss buckets full of mortification and bewilderment out the window-he was pretty sure crushing on your student could go on the list of Top Worst Mistakes Ever, and oh god, oh god, he was thinking about Matthew like that. Matthew was making his chest hurt, his world swimmy, his life electrified

“Please tell me you’re not going to cry.”
“I-I dunno yet. I haven’t decided.”
“You don’t get to decide,” sputtered Ludwig
THIS! This I lol HARD at in the middle of the night. I absolutely loved the main story and the short "side stories" you've written. I seriously can't wait for the next update. urg!

*flails*
More awesomness. These two...oh gods...these two...I love their friendship so damn much.
Poor Alfred though what a way to finally figure out your feelings...when you've been told the might be at the cost of the very person you cared about. Thankfully he didn't get to hang in the wind too long before Matthew finally called him.
**Ludwig sounded strained. “Please tell me you’re not going to cry.”**
Oh Ludwig...why must you steal every single scene that you're in?
Thanks for these little sides anon...they really add to the whole that is this fabulous story.
Oh and you might want to link to the two snippets you've written from Al's POV in the beginning of your next group of parts people who don't have the fill bookmarked have probably missed them...

This is the anon who wanted to see the talk that Alfred got, and I must say that this is infinitly better. \o/ Oh, Alfred, baby... *hugs* It's okay, it's okay... Jeez, authornon, you are a master at playing my heartstrings, and I love you for it. *wibbles* Why is Alfred so much like a puppy? I keep falling in love with him over and over, especially when you give us a segment of his POV.
As to the whole being totally overwhelmed that happened to Matthew, I sooooo know how that goes. I was half expecting him to be upset by Ludwig asking him not to tell. I known I would have gotten kinda offended by that. Like, 'do you really think that little of me' type thing. I sound pretentious. orz I AM GOING TO SHUT UP NOW.
PS: I was typing this comment on my phone in the lineup at Tim Horton's, and some random guy behind me said "You aren't allowed to smile like that while you're texting; people get funny ideas." *dies of mortification* X'D
