She stands with hands behind her back in darkness in her office, staring out the window. Prussia had kicked out a captain to offer this particular room half an eternity ago. Her gloves and hat lie on her desk

The subversive romance was definitely what I was going for, particularly in this most recent scene. In fact, I think it was the whole reason for my writing it. Prussia's a romantic but not in matters of the heart (or lust) and at this point, England is not a romantic except in vague philosophy (and literature

No prob. I'm glad I managed to give you an idea. ^_^ If you're planning to use the concept of keeping Valkyrie as a name you may want to consder looking at more Sin City quotes. They seem to fit Prussia and England.
Playing to the concept that Valkyries are clamiers of the slain... "The Valkyrie at my side is shouting and laughing with the pure, hateful, bloodthirsty joy of the slaughter... and so am I."
And thanks for clearing up the England situation. I kind of assumed that she was conquered, but then looking at her character it seems like she has a higher status than that of a conquered foe. She has enough free will to glare warningly at Prussia if drabble one and the thought that she's indulging his desires makes her seem more like an equal power ally.
And...once again I'm ranting. Sorry bout' that. Guess that's what happens when a potential English major finds an interesting story. >_<

Well, the glares aren't any real indication of free will or lack of breaking. I think it would amuse Prussia immensely to let her have the "Ice Maiden" hauteur. He would probably have fun unleashing her on unsuspecting bastards who've pissed him off in some way. To be honest, I'm a little ambivalent about the whole thing.
I'm glad you've put so much thought into this, actually. ^_^ These are just little scenes that I've been rattling off out of boredom and as a writing exercise. Unfortunately, it's been growing to unnatural levels.

Wow, anon is sad this is (maybe) over. This trio of ficlets has fast become one of my favorite things on this meme. There are no words to express how much each and every word is loved by this anon.
The image of them battling to the last together as the allied forces sweep in as a beautiful one, knowing defeat is coming but stubbornly fighting to the last. Anon adores how they both acknowledge each other and what they feel without having to say a overt word about it.
Anon would love to see more though and would happily request it specifically on the meme...
