I'd like to see America really invested in the whole mystery and discussing it with Russia. However, he doesn't know how close Russia was to the Romanovs and how much this whole thing is upsetting him. Russia is really torn up with guilt, and wants to believe that Anna Anderson is a fraud just because he wouldn't be able to cope with facing Anastasia again after all that happened.
But America is convinced that Anna is the real thing, and keeps arguing his point and dredging up stuff Russia really wants to forget (often in too much detail), until Russia finally snaps and ends up breaking down in tears in front of America.
America is pretty shocked by this, and isn't on the best terms with Russia at this point anyway, but feels pretty bad for making him cry and tries to comfort him.
