Prussia’s funeral was not on a rainy day or even an overcast day. Nor was it on a sunny day, though no one would not have been surprised because he had the most horrible sense of timing ( ... )

Spain saw Prussia again almost ten years to the day of the funeral. The pale-haired nation still wore the black uniform with its brilliantly crimson armband, his hair a little longer. He still smelled like grave dust ( ... )

“Go away,” said France through gritted teeth as he lit his fifth cigarette ( ... )

Germany was horrible at keeping secrets, but he still tried his hardest. But it was all useless, not when they could feel the ripples in the world. They as Nations just knew. All of them felt the loss of one of their number, the yawning void and empty confusion as the world tried to adjust to absence and stretched itself thin trying to cover the cracks. Even then, they all just knew it ( ... )

“There’s no room for Prussia anymore,” he remarked aloud and those words cost him a lot more than he would ever admit. He fingered his high collar and he could always feel the sting of puckered flesh, the memory of the wire clasping his throat shut. After a long moment, he exhaled sharply ( ... )

Notes:

This fic is under the presumption that Prussia was “executed” at the end of World War II, corresponding with the dissolution of Prussia as a state. Playing fast and loose with history, frankly, but what’s a little artistic license, right?

The Palace of Sanssouci (French for “No Worries” or “carefree) in Potsdam was the summer residence of Frederich Wilhelm II, otherwise known as Frederick the Great. He requested to be buried on the veranda with his dogs after his death but his nephew and heir had him buried elsewhere. It wouldn’t be until 1991 when the king’s wishes would be fulfilled and he was interred at the palace.

Frankly, I’m not too satisfied with this piece. But Prussia settled in my brain and wouldn’t leave. It was also inspired by my frustration with the general rite of funerals, based on the last rites of my grandmother, who passed away last August. About a week after Frederick the Great’s death, actually.

Dude, this is gorgeous. It's the best portrayal of the BFT I've ever read.

Their interactions are so tense and yet their companionship runs so deep, hot damn you've taken them to a whole new level!

wow damn, anon. No reason not to be satisfied. This piece feels like there's something behind it alright and it's not a bad thing. And I think it sort of inspired me too. Let's see if I get anything out of this inspiration.

Fucking creepy. In the good(?) way.

I loved this fic. Not only the way it was written but the idea behind it is brilliant. I'm sooo saving this.

I loved this. So interesting to see another take on Prussia :)

However, I must point out that Frederick the Great was actually Friedrich II. Friedrich Wilhelm II was his nephew.
