“You enter the dungeon,” England stated, glancing over his notes. “Go ahead and arrange your miniatures in marching order.” He winced as Russia knocked over one of his good teacups in his haste to put his little plastic dwarf in the front of the party

Haha~ This sounds intersting~
This anon knows the bare minimum of D&D, and has never played before. But, her Brouse(you know who you are) and Sis-bro where trying to get her to play. We never actually got to the playing part. XD

I don't really know that much about Dungeons and Dragons (*ducks flying objects*), but this fill is shaping up to be a reealllyyy interesting one and I already see the potential for epic hilarity. Poor England is going to have to take a whole bottle of aspirin at the end of all this, isn't he?

Considering that a bunch of people don't know too much about D&D, I'll probably add notes to the end of future chapters explaining some of the jokes to the non-player anons. I-I don't mean to alienate anybody...

You win. This. Everything. <3
Thank you for the fast fill! And frazzled!DM!England is awesome! Plus "Northwest Passage" reference, Hax0r!Canada, and totally over-the-top China! This...makes me giggle so hard! *Reads again*
Let's see: America is probably a Palidin, given he's a tank (extreme armor bonuses), Russia is a mage (good choice), China...possibly something squishy, like a ranger or barbarian (barbarians have lots of health, but little armor, hence squishyness), France...I have no idea...bard? (Hopes not, oh dear lord...) As for Canada, I...have to check the rulebooks again to see what that is...*Blanches*

Heheh... barbarians aren't squishy if you do them right. My current one (level 19) has an AC of 31. Then again my DM is the type who gives you lots of freebies and advantages and then makes you need every one of them later. X3
WHAT YOU KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN STARTING A DND THREAD OKAY. Everyone is too proud not to share. XD

This. I love this so hard. Dungeons and Dragons is awesome, although I rarely get to play because the people I play it with have conflicting schedules with each other. Hmph!

England, I feel your pain, I really do. As a fellow DM I can assure you that no, they won't learn. And Matthew, I really love you, but I would have your head if you appeared at my table with such a thing. With the party epically ignoring Arthur and doing increasingly stupid things it feels just like one of the adventures I have narrated.

With a sweep of his hand, England cleared the gaming mat of all miniatures. “Here’s the setup.” He grabbed two of America’s empty Hershey bar wrappers and set them down on the mat. “These are tables, and these-” -discarded poker chips from last week’s game night- “are monsters. White for kobolds, blue for goblins, red for orcs. The door is that square near the bottom left. Place your miniatures and roll initiative
( ... )
1) Gaming mat: A plastic mat with a one-inch grid on it used to help visualize battles. Miniatures are one-inch tall figures used for some tabletop RPGs. (Although my friends just use Warhammer miniatures as placeholders...)
2) Initiative: Measure of who goes first in combat. Higher numbers go first. A surprise round is when only certain people can act. It comes before regular combat when one party has the element of surprise.
3) Numbers: You roll to hit and roll to do damage.
Thanks for the cheat sheet for us non-players. I know very little about the game or the format but I'm adoring this fill...the characterization is wonderful!
Another anon reader here who is not completely familiar with Dnd (though not completely *unfamiliar* either. :P)
There is so much to love in this fic - China bursting in and kicking ass, Russia...being the lunatic and overall loose canon, France's failtastic attack, Canada's loophole and America's paladin healing power (HA!) and his numerous crappy rolls XD
And I don't think there can be an even more perfect choice for the DM. It just has to be England. This fic is so very bookmarked.

Maybe I'll learn something from this fill! :D

4) Lay On Hands: Paladin healing ability.
5) Kobolds: Incredibly weak creatures.
