Make something of this anon,
"Between 1785 and 1886, when the Crofters Act was passed in the United Kingdom, it is estimated that about 500,000 Highland-dwelling Scots left their homes in search of a new life. Some were forcibly evicted in the most brutal circumstances, others left of their own volition. Many of these half-million immigrants ended up in Canada"

It was the slight reddening of his hair that was Canada's first warning of what was happening and, with only two nations to his knowledge with that particular colour, it wasn't hard to guess who was behind it.
What he hadn't expected, however, was the state he would find Scotland in. If he had left the dock since first arriving then clearly it wasn't to wash or change his clothes. “Kenneth...” He whispered, barely getting a reaction, the almost sombre people leaving the ship more important at the moment. “Kenneth.” He used the human name again as he touched Scotland's arm, “Please, if you stay out here much longer you'll ge-”
“They could never truly defeat me.” Scotland cut in, glancing at Canada for a second before focusing on his people again. “Rome, Denmark, Norway...hell not even England to do it but...” He trailed off as he begun to shake in anger. “Sheep?! Of all things? ...Chan eil mi a' tuigsinn.” He said, breaking into his other tongue as he bowed his head in defeat

He cries as he looks at the empty plate, realizing that America has, yet again, stolen his cakes from Daddy France. Crying because he knows that, even if he does find his big brother, that cakes are well and truly gone now

It was when England and France put aside their differences for their annual surprise inspection of Canada's house (despite being told for the past few decades that he was a big boy now) that problems began

“Why the hell did you say that?!” Scotland hissed as soon as England and France left the following morning, “When the fucking hell have I even hinted that I wanted Gaelic to be one of your official languages?”
Canada just scowled as he turned to the older nation, “Well I figured one of us had to defend you and since you were being a damn coward about it!” He replied, poking Scotland as he said the last few words. “You never used to let them do that to you! You would have an insult for each and every one that England fired at you and you would of punched or threatened France with a knife for acting like that around me!”
A bitter laugh escaped Scotland's lips as he pinned Canada against the wall. “I've got two facts for you. First of all you aint a wee lad anymore and I'm sure those two have done worse around you than that. And secondly,” the grip loosened enough for Canada to start squirming more, “I aint as strong as I was...I wasn't even that strong then! My people have been coming here since some of my own started to sell out to
