crack pairing ahoy

I have no idea where this pairing came from in my head, but I thought of it randomly last month and still really, really want some Hong Kong/Iceland (or Iceland/Hong Kong). It can be canon based, AU (Gakuen, maybe?), whatever. I'd just like to see it.

AN: Let me say up front, I am not an economist. In fact, I consider economics a form of witchcraft which must be stamped out for the safety of the world. So, naturally, I decided to write a fill about economic goings-on which even professional witches don't understand. Anyways, if there are inaccuracies here, blame Wikipedia and the single newspaper article I consulted for this. Also, I suck at titles, but that's my own lookout.China looked at Hong Kong in a mixture of condescension and mild annoyance that the territory had gotten to know well. He ignored it studiously, and kept his expression impassive as China said, “I don’t think that you really have to be at this meeting, you know

Iceland leaned back in his seat and stared up at the fluorescent light on the ceiling. He let it sear his retinas for a moment, then shut his eyes again and watched the purple blotch swim on the inside of his brain

For a moment, Hong Kong thought that he only asked the other nation to drinks out of pity. Then, he was sitting across from him in a little booth of the hotel bar, trading anecdotes about their least favorite superpowers, past and present, and Hong Kong forgot there was anything wrong with the island

“Danmörk!” Iceland whined, repeating the perpetual cant of the younger brother. “I’m just trying to have a drink with Hong Kong,” he said. “A quiet drink

They both stood up and split the cost of drinks, before walking up the stairs towards Hong Kong’s room. America, England, France, Germany, and a few other nations were talking loudly and tramping around the corner at the same time, and Hong Kong and Iceland just managed to slip by unnoticed.
Hong Kong found himself watching Iceland furtively out of the corner of his eye. He was very thin, Hong Kong noticed. The island looked pale, almost emaciated; clearly suffering from a profoundly bad economy. Hong Kong wished that he could do more than just feed him cough drops.
He wanted to hug him and hold him and make him feel better. Hugging? Since when did he want to hug people? It seemed almost as if those giant, sad violet eyes were slowly turning him into Korea. They ended up drinking soda and playing as many card games as they could each remember. Hong Kong felt himself start gossiping again, but this time didn’t stop himself. Somewhere along the line, they both took off their ties and jackets, and ended up sitting on the twin bed,

...This is amazing! I um don't usually comment on here but...thought it was nice. It's similar to how I wanted a fanfic to go...but I've always like this pairing too. Good job. :)
This was an awesome surprise to see on the fills list; thank you so much! "We sound like a couple of teenagers" pretty much sums up exactly what I'd imagined their relationship to be like when I made this request, and I think you did a great job of capturing that - the two of them are maybe just a little awkward yet still very comfortable with each other.
I'm fairly hopeless when it comes to economics, so I wouldn't know if there were any inaccuracies, but I did really like the influence that each of their economies had on their characterizations. Especially since they're both characters without much canon to work off of, which is part of why I wasn't really expecting anyone to pick up this prompt any time soon. I'm so glad that you did, though! ♥

This was really sweet authoranon. I don't usualy think much about either Hong Kong or Icelands characters but this fill made them appear like very distinct characters, and I didn't expect them to make such a cute couple as they did.

oh ;; <3 That was sweet and awesome, author!anon :)
HK/Ice's relationship was built thoroughly, and its description was wonderful. I'm sure it's been hard keeping the ICness of a character when there isn't that much canon base to lean on, but you did it anyway, and the outcome is gorgeous. I really liked the fact that they can recognize the other's unique expressions after hanging out for few hours only, and even more that they can recognize each other's smile. It was adorable.
And I'd like to point out that you just made HK/Ice my new OTP (until a different one shows up, that is :P).
Also, I just loved Denmark - he was definitely the way I see him as a protective big brother and IC, which is awesome. I loved even more his comparison to Netherlands, 'cos Netherlands and Denmark? are so doing it and it was definitely called for.
And, basically, I enjoyed a whole lot. <3 Thanks for filling!
