Vladimir Nabokov’s classic Lolita has always been one of my favorite books. At last, I thought, here is someone who understands what it is like. For like the unfortunate Humbert, I too have desired and craved my own Lolita. I too have loved a girl-child as he loved his Dolores. My dear bright glorious Emily, my nymphet, my sin, my soul; light of my life, fire of my loins!
Reading through Lolita again I can clearly see how eerily similar my life has been to the story of the book’s protagonist. I loved sweet Emily like no other and yet she is gone gone gone…
Ah, but you do not want to hear my inane begging for what I have lost, do you? No, what you want is how I arrived to be the pitiful shell of a man I am. Fine. You shall have what you want.

I absolutely love the way you write Ivan's first person point-of-view, and your portrayls of Natasha and Alfred Emily are fantastic. :) I've actually never read Lolita, although it is high on my reading list, but from what I know of it, this definately does it justice. I can't wait to see more of this. <3

For this next section of the Confessions of Ivan Fyodorovich Braginski, I admit that I did indeed have qualms about lusting after my niece. One’s own flesh-and-blood: the ultimate forbidden love. But again, faithful audience, you must remember that Emily is not human. I truly cannot stress this enough. I am not enough of a monster to go after an actual child as you and I and God knows them to be, innocent and frail, vulnerable and pure. I would never prey upon one of them. But daemon embodied in childish flesh, golden and honeyed, bedecked with twin sapphires and just tempting me ( ... )
