Sunlight was streaming in through the thin fabric of the room’s blinds, filling the space with a warm, soothing light. Stuffed animals and baby toys were strewn all over the rug in the center of the room, and he was careful not to step on any, particularly the noise making ones, as he strode across the floor ( ... )

Ukraine took a seat on the couch in Canada’s living room, able to make out the noises of playing children coming from upstairs as Canada returned from the kitchen with two steaming warm mugs of hot chocolate. He placed the mugs down on the coffee table before them, and sat down on the couch beside Ukraine. The blush had mostly faded from his cheeks, but on the inside there were still butterflies. Canada knew that if marriage had not been so hard (if not pretty much impossible) between nations, he would have asked Katya to marry him a long time ago. The thought brought the flush back to his face, but Ukraine didn’t notice.

“She’s grown so much in these two months.” Ukraine was still focused on the child slumbering in her arms, who had instinctively curled into her mother’s warmth.

“Yeah, she has.” He agreed, gaze falling to his daughter (and trying desperately to stay off of Ukraine’s bountiful tracks of land“I missed being here with you both. Really, if I could help it I would never have left.” She mused, a finger tracing down her ( ... )

“Papa!” She exclaimed, reaching her arms out to him. But when he tried to pick her up she squirmed in protest, not wanting to leave her mother’s lap. Instead she grabbed his sleeve and tugged hard on it ( ... )

Canada blinked again, this time in confusion. Is that what Katya really thought of this, that it was a generous act of charity that their daughter was his little Saskatchewan? He felt his heart drop a little with heaviness, realizing that Katya must have worried endlessly about this, during her pregnancy and even up to now. After all, she was in a tight spot, being a part of Russia, and could not at the time have raised their child at her home, as much as she wanted to ( ... )

It wasn’t long before Sophia started to yawn, her tiny cherubic face relaxing in sleepiness. Turquoise eyes close slowly, before snapping right back open as the child started to resist the oncoming nap in favor of playing some more; Katya wouldn’t have it, though, and grabbed a bottle of warm milk from the table. Gently placing the nipple of the baby bottle in her daughter’s mouth (and realizing with a heavy heart that they should start weaning the girl soon, she already had so many of her baby teeth in), Katya watched as Sofiya took in the milk, her eyelids becoming heavier with each mouthful, until the baby had completely gone off to sleep. Smiling and wiping the dripping milk from Saskatchewan’s chin, Katya then changed her clothes and diaper, and put the child in her crib ( ... )

This fic is dedicated to my lovely Ukraine. You know who you are~

Notes:

Dunno. Did you happen to mention to an lj friend that a fic of hers reminded you to finish this fill? If so...I probably am XD If not...I'm sorry D:

I read what the anon said below, and I actually like how you portrayed their relationship. I've seen a few...completely-sickening-in-real-life couples who have had kids together and are still all blushy and shy. It's annoying in real life, but rather cute in fics :) Besides, once that kid reaches a certain age, the parents tend to quickly leave that blushy phase since they're just so tired from raising their lovely-but-mischievous child XD

I know now exactly who you are, and you're right. Hello there, person-who-has-discovered-me

XD I mean, specifically for Canada and Ukraine I feel like the shyness is a part of their relationship, given their characters. Both of them are very shy, passive type people, so I think the blushy relationship fits. I can see both sides of it, but I just though this worked better.

Thank you!!!

reCaptcha: do perdue. I think it wants us to have some chicken...

Long live Canada/Ukraine indeed! (I, er, have written a fair amount for the pairing.)

As a Saskatchewanon, I have to go "d'aaaaaw" at how adorable Saskatchewan is, even if yours is completely different from my headcanon version. And I love how you don't cut out the fact Canada has had a lot of kids with a lot of people. I have an incredibly small bone to pick (okay, two) and that's that Alberta actually had a larger Ukrainian population than Saskatchewan at the time of formation (unless I'm completely out to lunch, which is possible), and that for a pair that had a kid already they seem awful "shy and blushy".

That, of course, is my headcanon talking. Ignore it, it does that sometimes. This fic was incredibly sweet and embodies exactly what I love about this pair! Very sweet, very historical, and just a bit sensual at the end. Delicious piece, anon!
I may know who you are, too, though I don't think you know me./stalker

Hehe, am I really so obvious? I'm wondering who you who say you might know me think I am... And I want to know you! I wanna read some Canada/Ukraine!!!~~ How about if/when I de-anon myself you comment again reveal yourself too? ♥

Pick away, I am totally with you on this. Trying to stick with the prompt and sticking with history killed me, and as an American my knowledge of Canadian history is, well, pretty much akin to nothing. (I'm sorry ;A;!!! *sobsob*) As for the second one, Iwas aware of that while I was writing, but I can't seem to picture this relationship much differently. Gah, now I feel like I need to try this prompt again... And I need to get over my blush-fetish. XD

I like it when people share their headcanons, even if it means they disagree. (I'm actually sick of people telling me what I want to hear all the time XDDD). I'm still glad that despite my inaccuracies you enjoyed this fic~ Thank you!! ♥♥♥

It's not that you're obvious so much as I'm sort of a stalker. When you de-anon I'll be sure to comment. (If you're that eager, I have a few of my pieces already on ff.net.)

Pfft, I have a tough time sticking to the historical myself, and I'm a total geek about it. And us Canadians don't learn too much about our history outside of elementary school and specific courses, so don't feel too bad. Not even we're too sure about our history. And I actually really, really like blushy couples, too. That's exactly how I see them. I happened to be really picky last night.

I enjoy these sorts of fics in any incarnation! (They are, admittedly, a guilty pleasure of mine.) Thank you very much for writing this.

I had an epiphany about 10 seconds ago, and lo and behold, when I return you've replied. I think I found a Canada/Ukraine kink meme fill that may have been written by you... and, checking ff.net, I think I have an even better idea of who you might be. I'm finding this to be a rather fun game.

It's okay that you were picky; it really is all stuff I need to hear, anyways. Constructive criticism, oh how I've missed thee~ XD

>/////< You're welcome very much, and thank you for brightening my day.

Maybe. You've made me want to de-anon myself just to find out XD

:) I think anyone who writes should be open to concrit, otherwise how can you improve?
