Shipper Manifesto: Smallville (Chloe/Oliver)
borntobewild is having issues posting on LJ, so I am posting up her Shipper Manifesto on her behalf. Repeat: the following is completely authored by borntobewild. :)

Pairing: Oliver Queen/Chloe Sullivan
Blurb: I actually made this whole shipper Chlollie kit with vids, and fanarts galore and a long explanation on why I love them but my livejournal failed, so I have to redo it.
Why I ship Chlollie?
Both Chloe Sullivan and Oliver Queen are flawed people.
Oliver Queen lives the deadly balance between superhero and playboy billionaire, as cliched as it was, having two lives is not a good recipe for having a social life. Or friends. Or lovers. When you're living a double life, paranoia is not only understandable, it's a requirement, so yeah, his life is a pretty barren land for meaningful relationships, platonic or romantic to grow on. Hell, the relationships he had with the two women he was serious with failed spectacularly. One woman joined the dark side and tries to kick him down just for the hell of it from time to time while the other, well, he just couldn't even entertain the thought of sharing his dual identity with.
The boy has trust issues, he does. Luckily, he had the Justice League, people who knew who he was; not just a fun loving rich boy, but a hero, someone who tries to do good for the world.
Chloe. however, had been dodging mutant freaks and evil billionaire masterminds since she was 15, had valiantly serve as sidekick/secret keeper to her best friend Clark, dated several meteor freaks who either wants to kill her or kill somebody else, had her heart stomped repeatedly on by Clark, had been buried alive, infected with meteor rocks, possessed by an alien, kidnapped, blown up, experimented upon and yes, she had even died. Twice.
Tough cookie.
Both of them tries to do the right thing but gets kick in the face instead, and they had toppled over the thin line that separates what is right and what is necessary. And along those years, although Chloe and Ollie weren't the best of friends, they were co-workers and teammates but when push comes to shove, they knew each other's weak and strong points.
When you watch the seasons, you can actually see the milestones that finally brought Chloe and Oliver together. Little things, big things, simple things that sort of paved their way into coupledom. Connections within connections that weave together to make them a pair that make sense. But in short, why I ship Chlollie could actually be explained through three scenes between two of my favorite Smallville characters: Chloe Sullivan and Oliver Queen.
Requiem Season 8x14.
This was an eye-opening scene. This is a scene that puts them on the same level. A scene that explains that they now hold each other’s darkest secret and trusts the other to keep it because when push comes to shove, they understand the reason behind each other’s actions, better than anybody else in their lives. It also explains a similarity between these two, how they are able to justify the means in order to protect the people that they’re determined to shield, how there is darkness inside them both and they accept that. This scene, for me, was the scene that put Chlollie on the map. This scene between them was dark, demanding and gritty. I love it.
Beast Season 8x20
This is a scene where it explains Oliver’s opinion of Chloe, how angry and how disappointed he was of her actions. He was frustrated, disgusted and just plain confused over what she did. You would think this scene of him chewing Chloe out wouldn’t be a big deal. He almost got nearly killed because Chloe supreme act of stupid (hiding Davis in her basement? WTF?) after all.
He had all the reasons to be pissed. But what he said, and how he said it? He made it personal. His expression when he said, “When did you become one of the bad guys, huh?” said that he wasn’t just pissed, he was disappointed.
Oliver Queen had stopped expecting anything out of anyone a long time ago. He could watch anyone go out of his life with a smile and a wave because he’s used to hiding his emotions. But when he found out what Chloe did, he was disappointed so much, he just had to confront her and ask why? It emphasized how he thought of Chloe, how he held her in high esteem and how he trusted her to be one of the good guys, how he trusted her period. For Ollie, that was big. For Chloe, nowadays, Oliver seemed the only who is able to tell her off, who actually takes her to task and she actually listens to.
Roulette Season 9x5
To me everything about Chlollie and what they mean to each other can always be summarized by this one scene.
Oliver: Well, he's led a different life than we have, hasn't he? I can't expect him to know me like you do... the places that I had sunk to, the depths you must have had to go to bring me back. Thank you.
Chloe: You proved it to yourself. Even with your face in the gutter, you still had the hero in your heart.
Oliver: You saved my life, Chloe. Both the myth... and the man.
Oliver and Chloe, as a lot of Chlolliers would agree, are like two puzzle pieces that just fit. All through the seasons, their lives are simply parallels of each other’s. They not only know each other’s darkest secrets, they accept them. They accept each other despite their flaws and tainted hands and dubious plans. From all of the Smallville characters, their relationship is the most honest, the most real the most take-no-prisoners kind that just blows my mind. When Ollie lost his way, Chloe would be there to pull him back, kicking and screaming. When Chloe lose sight of her goals, Ollie would remind her. Different than any of their other relationships, even before they are a couple, both Chloe and Oliver knew each other inside and out. They keep each other honest. They literally complete each other.

Why This Must Be Read: The thing with Chlollie is the romance is pretty much off screen so we have this gap between one episode to another, so we, Chlollie fanfic writers have free reign on imagining what did, in fact, happen. For instance, between Conspiracy and Escape, things between Chlollie were so different. And this fic fits the gap perfectly. The writer writes true to the characters’ voices. Very enjoyable read.

The fic is not yet done though but it’s still awesome.
