<33 oh, that was awesome. I loved the chess all the way through it, and how Gabranth hasn't yet distanced himself from Landis. ^^
"Do you intend to make an opening gambit, Judge Gabranth, or shall you sit examining the board unto infinity?"
That line, in particular, makes me very happy.

Good work!

Thank you very much! I was a bit afraid the chess metaphor would get out of hand, so I'm very glad it worked.

Thank you again!

oh, I, oh.

This is indeed very much exactly what I was hoping for. ♥

The layers of conversation in the chess lesson -- and Larsa's presence, and how clearly they care for him -- are wonderful, and I adore Gabranth's chivalry even when it seems as though Archadia has no place for it, and Drace's aggressive bluntness took my breath away (much as it did Gabranth, I suspect). Also your grasp of the formal diction is fabulous.

Thank you so much!

Yay! I am so pleased that you like it :D Larsa snuck into the story and refused to leave, and Gabranth and Drace were quite adamant that he remain, so I'm glad that worked for you.

I love the buildup in this. Precision, precision, precision, and then it explodes. Beautiful.

Thank you! It was kind of exhausting to be so precise and subtle, but I really like the way it turned out.

Ooh, this is cool. The formality suits them, and I like Drace's confrontation that starts it all, and the way that Gabranth is chivalrous in ways that Drace appreciates in addition to... well, habit, and attempts to defend Drace when she doesn't need it.

Thank you very much! I sort of picture the two of them having first become involved while Gabranth was still finding his feet in Archades (a process, I think, that would have taken quite a while), and I'm so glad this seems to have worked out ^_^
