Yes to *all* of that, and especially to having love through the roof for both BP and Rose. I mean, I think I was pretty won over by the time I watched Father's Day and she ripped my freaking heart out, but...man, picking up the pipe. If ever there was a way to make me love a girl forever...

I guess I've still been going back and forth between her and Veronica Mars and assorted other TV ladies, but yeah, she brought it times ten. Through the roof is right!

Oh, goodness! Thank you so much, hon! I'm so sorry I missed that -- I've had some craziness going on in real life. But I'm really flattered. :) What a lovely thing to do.

I loved it, loved it, loved it, buuut:

I'm sure the show will do something about the god complex, because it's being telegraphed rather blatantly, both here and in "The Christmas Invasion" with the heroic swordfighting and the shouting and all of that.

See... I keep worrying that RTD... really thinks Ten is the moral authority. Those lines of dialogue remind me of the AtS "Champion" stuff.

Also, I think they're making up the Face of Boe thing as they go, ala Bad Wolf, but that's all right, since that plot thread was resolved in a pretty satisfactory and entertaining way.

I guess I'm new enough to both Doctor Who and RTD to have faith that he's not going to pull an Angel on us. (But even the "Champion" stuff was colored by some of Angels not-so-nice actions, right? Man, it's been a while....) It could still happen, but I'm in love and so I'm therefore blind/trying to trust. (g)

You'd think with just a thirteen episode season, all shot in one nine-month go, they'd have better planning with the overall arc stuff. I do think the Bad Wolf arc felt a little sloppy and hastily resolved, even if it was interesting. Maybe they learned from that and will do better this time around. *hopes*

Wellll... I'm pretty sure I saw an interview where RTD was pleased with the "writing it by the seat of our pants" process... I think sometimes showrunners and fans have different definitions of what "works." I'm interested in writing TV myself, and already I see this weird transformation happening, moving me from the fan place to some other weird place where I'm all, "Continuity? Worldbuilding? What? Just get the fucker done." It's scary and strange!

re: having faith
I have a bad habit of giving TV writers no credit (and then suddenly jumping to their defense when fellow fans dis 'em; it's weird). I lovelovelove the new Who, and I love what RTD's doing with it; what I meant when I commented was more like... I think what we see as a problem, I'm wondering if RTD doesn't, if what we're finding off-putting is something he likes and gets a charge out of. I could easily see and even understand a big ol' DW fanboy getting a charge out of writing a character that was ( ... )
