Beautifully written, though you broke my Spuffy-loving heart. Somewhat, anyway... he will be back. And she will be there. And yes, I justify. Why do you ask? *grins*

Brava!

It was never going to be Spuffy - despite the fact that the story is based on Spike's sacrifice of the memory of loving B, Spuffy was never central to the plot. But I'm sorry for the somewhat heartbreak. And yes, he will be back, but I have no intention of writing the reunion scene - ever.

Thank you! I'm very relieved that it's all over but there's a (Spike-shaped) hole in the world.

Well, unexpected.
I like that Angel called Spike family publically.
I get Spike's choice. He has to know himself.

But I sense disappointment that the ending wasn't Spuffy. It was never going to be - despite the fact that the story is based on Spike's sacrifice of the memory of loving B, it was never central to the plot.

He'd called him a Champion in public and that was a much harder thing for him to do. He couldn't deny the family ties.

Thank you so much for all your feedback. You've kept my sugar levels stable throughout the two years it's taken to complete this part of The LA Times Series.

honestly, no. For me, I like Spike as his own person most, and then integrated into a family next and then yeah, with Buffy, or Tara or OC...at some point I'll write more than a paragraph to prequel the solstice fic, whether Spike is with Buffy has taxed my brain...could go either way;)

I like the ending as it promises further adventures! Or, at least leaves that possibility open.

Excellent. Really. So good to read a well-crafted, intelligent Buffyverse story. No, I don't mind the lack of Spuffy in this; very good to see Spike being his own man, something I've been trying to persuade the silly sod to do for years. Although despite myself have to say I felt oddly sorry - I'd have sent Buffy after him through the portal despite everything, 'cos I'm an old romantic - but yours is by far the better option (damn the curse of teh Spuffy)! I don't know some of the characters you used in the story; I still haven't watched Angel, but they seemed very real to me. Fred and Wes were lovely, Drusilla was so sad and mad and Angel... well, he was much more bearable in this than in what I've seen of him ;)

So, Spike will be back. But will you tell us about it?

Well done, Pat! Truly great story.

Thanks, Cass. I'm really glad you enjoyed the story. Minor characters are fun to use and easy, like a template. I haven't your confidence to create and Oc of my own.

Angel... well, he was much more bearable in this than in what I've seen of him
That's because you see him through Spike's eyes. You just have to have confidence in him as Harmony would say.

But will you tell us about it?
To quote Fred “I guess I’m finally ready”... to let Spike go, so no, I won't be waiting for him to come back.

I will write the occasional short drabble no doubt if taken by one of open_on_sunday's prompts. And I've just finished a 'themed' drabble x3 for the general_buffy challenge. It's not one of my best but I enjoyed the little bit of research I did for it. Have a look at the challenge and see if you're inspired. We need more people signing up by the 18th.

The OCs were nothing to do with confidence - both of them asked to be written, and they were enjoyable to write, but I had absolutely no confidence in them. Luckily no-one actually laughed in my face. Besides, the sketched-out characters which you then fully-flesh are only a step or so away from OCs.

That's because you see him through Spike's eyesTrue - I've only ever really seen him as a foil for Spike. I didn't see much of early BtVS, but what I saw of Angel in that show I really didn't like (although I did sort of enjoy Angelus as a character), and that was even before the Spikelove. I began to appreciate him more in what I saw of AtS S5, but again, only in the context of Spike. I guess to be fair to him I need to watch all of AtS, but honestly, I doubt I'll ever find the time now ( ... )

Excellent story, well-plotted, with familiar voices and graphic descriptions.

Frankly, I'd love to see more Spike-Buffy scenes, but the way you resolved their story is sad, poignant and strangely satisfactory. This Spike is your typical AtS Spike who's all.about.good.fight.

Besides, he'll be back. And I'm sure Buffy will eventually find a way to his heart.

Thank you for the great ride!
