Alright, finally back home and man this trip was insane. But so freaking worth it.
Got up at 4am on Sunday so that we could make it out to Michigan in good time. it's a 12 1/2 hour trip but because we got on the road so early, there was no traffic to contend with until we were almost out of Pennsylvania. So we managed to cut down the travel time and got in around 3:30pm.
Managed to get in a quick shower before
superhero_boi came over and we went out for dinner, followed by a trip to Kmart to get socks for Jay and John as they weren't wearing socks and we wanted to go bowling.
At Applebees, everyone playing with their phones.
And at Kmart there was the best photobomb ever.
Grab that ass!
Bowling!
After that we went back to the hotel for a bit before taking John home and then returned once more and settled in to watch Dexter, which
superhero_boi had never seen, then she had to head back home.
Monday we headed out not quite as early as Sunday, had to meet up with Crystal who was coming along for the show, then stopped at Sonic for breakfast. I started the day off right with a wonderful banana shake which Jay and
superhero_boi also decided to partake in. Crystal missed out by ordering OJ. Oh well.
On the road once more to Cincinnati this time, Jay had fun twitpicing a sleeping Crystal in grand Muse tradition. Me and
superhero_boi amused ourselves in the excersize of not getting lost. Which was mostly successful until we tried to figure out where to park at the hotel to unload. We got it eventually though and checked in, upon which the photo spree began. There is a reason that I love Tom Kirk as much as I do.. give me a camera and watch out!
I have the rest of the pictures on my
facebook page cause really, I can only spam so many places with photos.
After settling in for a bit we figured getting something to eat before the show would be good so we managed to find sushi at a place called Mr. Sushi. Redundant, I know. It was fair, nothing extremely good that I had but the spicy tuna was amazingly spicy. Quite enjoyed!
After that we headed back to the hotel to get changed and ready for the concert, then took the shuttle from the hotel to the US Bank Arena to meet up with
ms_belle10 and her friend. After some squealing and chatting me and superhero_boi headed inside as the sushi was doing horrid things to my stomach. Once inside however we couldn't get back out to gather everyone else so we stopped by to see where the seats were located. I was quite happy to find that they were as close as the website was saying they were. The pictures taken with my phone really do the seats no justice, they really were great seats, I just have no zoom.
Wandered back out to get everyone else gathered up and picked up the horribly overpriced tour shirts. got back to the seats again and started up a conversation with a girl seated next to us who was attending her first concert! She was wonderfully cute and so excited and I can understand why!
part of the stage crew decided to start the wave to get the crowd riled up a bit and it work for awhile before Metric came on with their short 5 song set. They did play on of my favorites, 'Help Me I'm Alive' but their light show.. it was awful. I'm not alone in that assessment either, far too many people were left blinded and even nauseated by the lights. Lights came back up between Metric and Muse and that's when over by the sound booth, a blonde head of hair was spotted. Kate Hudson is apparently on tour with Muse as well and had set herself up in the sound booth. Of course I spotted Tom Kirk and that was it for me, me and
superhero_boi sprinted over with our gifts for Muse. I was shaking I was so nervous. Seriously, I was less nervous while I was waiting by the tour buses later! Had to hout a few times to get Tom's attention as we were trapped on the other side of the wall from the rest of the seated GA. He did notice after a few shouts though but seemed confused as I waved the bag of stuff and pointed, then he nodded and stepped over the barrier of the sound booth and headed over. Mind you, Kate Hudson was about 20 feet away at this point but I completely forgot about her as I watched Tom wander over. Whatever pictures you've seen of this man, they don't do him justice. Seriously, he's slender and tall and so friendly! We handed over the books (Golf For Dummies, 101 Golf Tips) dvd (Happy Gilmore) and socks (leopard and zebra print, hopefully Dom will get some of them) and
superhero_boi snapped a picture off after asking of course. He was happy enough to pose but unfortunately the shot ended up blurry. Oh well.
Ran back up and over to our seats just in time as We Are The Universe started just as we sat down (Tom had checked his watch while we were talking with him, if the show was a tad late, sorry!)
I managed to keep up a running commentary on twitter with the setlist and got a few videos shot here and there, those are up on facebook as well. As a side note, I'm officially retiring my gig camera, my cell phone worked so much better this time, Google makes an awesome phone!
Set list:
We Are the Universe (intro music)
Uprising (riff version)
Map of the Problematique
New Born + Microphone Fiend riff
Supermassive Black Hole
Resistance
Interlude + Hysteria + Back in Black outro

Time Is Running Out + Heartbreaker riff

Exogenesis: Symphony Part I (Overture)
Stockholm Syndrome + Endless Nameless riff
Man with a Harmonica intro + Knights of Cydonia
Oh and how awesome is it to have a shoutout from Matt and have Feeling Good dedicated to you? It's pretty damn awesome. I mean, I had that song play at my wedding cause I love it so much.
The energy of the gig was a bit strange, a bit slow to pick up and I noticed clusters of unmoving people standing about but I thought it was great. Still, I think the boys are ready for a rest. The touring is taking it's toll I think. That didn't stop the Wolstenbeast from bringing some awesome basslines or Dom from revealing sexy tummy. And Matt had fun with his shiny amp, playing with the crowd. And the eyerape from Dom.. YUM! Matt seemed oblivious to it though.
After the show everyone made the mad dash for the bathrooms and I got lost in the crowd. eventually met back up with everyone and headed over to the tour buses that
ms_belle10 had found quite by accident earlier that night.
Settled in to wait for signs of life from inside which was spotty but interesting. Kate and Matt wandered back and forth a few times, Dom Anderson wandered aimlessly for a bit and I laughed with explaining to a confused German girl that it was the other Dom, not the drummer. She seemed confused as to why a few people were cheering for him. Morgan even made an appearance and I tried to get his attention but to no avail. Oh well. I did see Tom wander back and forth with gifts in tow.
At one point when Dom and Chris came out a little girl about 6 or 7 years old broke from the group and darted across the street through security and managed to snag autographs from Dom and Chris on the setlist she'd gotten earlier from Tom. Good for her but after looking around on the .mu forum, I have a very strong feeling she was encouraged by her mother to do it. Not cool risking your child like that. Thank gods there was no more traffic on the street at that point.
Anyways, Matt and Kate's bus took off first but there was a delay from the one that Dom and Chris were on. Dom opened up the window and was looking out at the gathered crowd before he pointed me and
superhero_boi out, Chris taking a peek out the window as well, laughing at her golf swing she mimed to them. At this point the bus was now crawling down the street and chaos broke out as everyone started following it and then broke out running after it. I got caught up in the excitement and well.. despite my extreme distaste for running, ran after it as well for a full two blocks. It stopped for a bit but I guess with 40 or so fans and not nearly enough security, we did not get to meet the boys.
Headed back to the hotel though on a high note, not even caring that we were walking the streets of Cincinnati at midnight. It was a good way to burn off some excess energy though before I managed to crash out around 1am.
Most of the rest of the trip was fairly uneventful with a few noted exceptions. Ahem. Anyways. What?
Left on Wednesday to head back home and didn't make as good as time but really, me and Jay were both tired. Didn't stop us from continuing tradition with the speeding ticket though. Pennsylvania State Trooper clocked us as 83 in an 65. So glad he was a little slow with the radar and didn't get us at what Jay had really been driving which was likely closer to 93. He did let us go easier and wrote us a ticket for 71 in a 65 but still.. Got a ticket last time we saw Muse too. Next time, I'm taking mass transit.
Anyways, I'm out!
