The music meme where I visit some website, yank their otherworldly fradulent Top 75 songs list from the year of my birth, and notate stuff. I'd tell you which site, but since lambertman and I share the same years, I just took it from him, source unknown.

I'll bold the ones I love, strike the ones I hate, italicize the ones I don't know, and leave the others ( Read more... )

mfsb stands for mother father sister brother. :)

man, both your years are really good for music. i'm guessing both 84 and 02 are pretty lame.

Thanks for the expansion. To be honest, I googled mfsb right after I posted because it was driving me a little insane. Still, I appreciate that you answered, and I pledge to refrain from googling something for at least an hour next time.

I've always thought was a weak year for music, and this list didn't do much to counter that thought. 1992 was good, but 1991 was better.

And 1984 was pretty good, if I remember correctly. I'm willing to bet you're right about '02, but I'll also bet it was better than you remember. :-)

I'm surprised by some of the songs from '74 that you don't know, but then again, this is me that's surprised so.....

Yes, Ringo's "You're Sixteen" is a cover.

Consider yourself lucky you've not heard "The Way We Were" and "You're Having My Baby"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fucking HATE "Radar Love"!!!!!! HATE, HATE, HATE that song!

"My Melody Of Love" is Bubcie's favorite song EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

43. Layla (Unplugged) - Eric Clapton
--Unlike Mr. L, I do hate this one. I hate this one more than I love the original.

I fucking love you! :D

I did this ages ago and included excessive comments. I think I'll repost it.

It makes sense when you realize that I didn't listen to pop radio until 1984. Before that, it was all country or oldies. I'm kind of surprised that I didn't know the Mac Davis song, but I could probably still sing every word on his Texas In My Rearview Mirror album, and I haven't heard that in over 20 years.

Yes, Ringo's "You're Sixteen" is a cover.

If it's the "You come on like a dream/Peaches and cream/Lips like strawberry wine" one, then I've heard the song, but not his version.

I think I've heard them both, but I'm successfully blocking. :-)

I fucking HATE "Radar Love"!!!!!! HATE, HATE, HATE that song!

Really?? Not even the guitar saves it? Is your hatred based on the song itself, or is there something else going on?

I fucking love you! :D*blush* I don't know how to file the song. I mean, it's not a cover ( ... )

Yep, that's the one.

Re: "Radar Love".... Nope, not even the guitar saves it. The radio stations here overplayed it right away, and the classic rock stations still overplay it over 30 years later. That's where the hatred comes from; I could never escape the damn thing!

Re: "Layla".... I've said it before, I'm sure I'll say it again, bad things happen when THE RIFF!!!!!!! is fucked with!!!!

Repost is up! You did come in on it the first time, but all you wrote was that 1988 was a good year for fluffy pop songs. Nothing more.
