"I think everybody does, at one point or another, sweetheart," Rachel replied, reaching for her remote and muting her TV. She frowned slightly, concerned by the sound of his voice.

"Have you been having those dreams again? Everything okay?"

"I'm sitting here,' he murmured, voice low to try and hide the hint of a slur. "Looking at the city and I'm thinking maybe he's right, maybe I can do more than float."

He fell silent for a long moment. "Maybe I can fly."

Rachel kept her voice soft and calm, full of warmth and affection, but at his words, she was immediately on her feet, heading for the front door. "You think so, huh?" she asked, shrugging on her coat, holding her phone first to one ear and then the other with her shoulders. "And where is it you're sitting? Are you up on the roof, brooding handsomely? You know I'll want to see this..."

Peter laughed, the sound sharp as glass. "I'm not Batman,' he teased but then he went quiet but for the sound of him drinking. "What's the worst that happened if I jumped? And don't think I'm suicidal, I'm serious here. What if I can fly?"
