Long before the notice was hammered onto the doors in town, the people on the other side were discussing the contents. It was no secret, they'd been warned it was coming. That didn't make the conversations about it any gentler

Momoko was going to let Dinah handle the crowd for the moment, keeping a careful eye out for trouble. Dinah looked the most like one of their kind, so there was a chance she could calm them down

Momoko will gladly sit down and explain everything to you eventually, Lord Swift, but it had all just now clicked in Momoko's head: the group she had come across had been plotting and planning against their queen for a while now. The rioting had simply provided the best cover for them to actually carry out their plans. And a well-planned effort meant the Queen was in real and actual danger!
Momoko reached out and grabbed one of the footmen before he could run out of the room. "Where's the Queen?"
The young man stared a moment at her, obviously overwhelmed and confused. "She... she should be in her rooms. It's her resting time."
Momoko was about to demand he take her to those rooms when suddenly he grabbed her arm and squeezed, his eyes slightly distracted. She waited a moment, holding her breath. Samantha had looked much this same way when they got their urgent message from Julian

Oh thank God, some back-up. Dinah was holding off the two women-- who were confused that she wasn't fighting like Blood would. Or a landen, and she had one woman down and groaning in only a minute, the other more wary and trying to get past her.
Which was when someone beaned her from behind with a stick, and she had to lash out with TK without even looking.
Mark was engaging the rioters with his fists, and then going after the men that Momoko was targeting, only ducking power blasts that were being thrown about at random.
Swift started circling the men and directing power at the ones throwing around magic.
There had to be a way to make this stop...
Then the Queen fell to the ground, white as a sheet, and okay, screw the fighting.
Momoko was busy trying to hog tie the second male plotter while he was busy throwing off rose coloured sparks at her when Dinah was hit from behind. Bad back-up! Sorry Dinah

"Wait for me!" Dinah had already grabbed onto Momoko's back, and had reached forward to take the Queen's hand before Momoko got up too high.
"Yes," the Queen whispered in answer to Momoko's question. She concentrated a moment, then relaxing in pain. "I've told them. They're not happy. But they understand."
There were a lot of unhappy faces down there, Dinah sent, Are you injured? What happened? not wanting anyone trying to get to them to have the chance to overhear what was wrong.
*Moon-time*, she got back, with surprise and embarrassment mixed in. *Bruises and I think they wrenched my shoulder when they grabbed me, but I tried to hold them off, and now everything hurts....*
Ohhhhh. Damn. "Got it," Dinah said, squeezing Momoko's shoulder and passing along the information, in case she hadn't gotten that clearly.
To Momoko, she said, "I think maybe we need Raven."
Momoko kind of had her hands full at the moment, Dinah. Could you make that call?
"I reported in earlier, so it won't be a total surprise to them," Momoko nodded making sure to keep her hold gentle. "I'll stay with you guys at camp and then head back into town once Raven arrives."
"Lord Swift told me you guys were there basically by accident, but the Lady was also being targeted by some of the citizens." Momoko concentrated and let Dinah have access to what she remembered having led her to the Manor. "I want to go back and make sure they get held separately from the rest of the townsfolk."
"Makes sense," Dinah said back, and started fishing in her pockets for her phone to call in Raven. She left a message, then started sent out a mental shout: SAM! GET KIRT. MEET US AT CAMP. Worst case, Swift would pass that along. Samantha would probably hear it, though.
"Maybe taking the Queen-- I'm sorry, I didn't hear your name," Dinah apologized to the woman. "Taking her out of there will get the riot to calm down a little. Maybe."
"Oxsana," she whispered, then said, "My Consort..." Her face crumpled. "I don't know if he's alive."
"He is, Lady." Or, had been. "He was able to send a mass message to your household that you had been taken. I sent one of your men to help him if he was injured."
They were going at a fast enough speed that catching glimpses of the town were hopefully difficult, since the last thing the Queen needed was to worry about that as well, and soon they were outside the town and heading towards the hill that was keeping the Commandos' camp hidden just out of sight of the town.
As they flew, Momoko noticed a plume of smoke... in the direction they were heading.
Dinah?! I'm seeing smoke coming from the camp. We may have trouble. I'm going to come in fast and swoop through to see what's there before actually landing. If there's trouble, let me know before you jump?Hopefully Dinah caught all of that because there wasn't time to repeat it before Momoko was grunting a soft, "Hang on, Lady Oxsana. I won't let you be harmed." and then speeding up the hill and rushing into the camp they'd left EMPTY behind them earlier

Which would be when someone set fire to something else outside, with a shrill shriek accompanying the sound and smell of burning.
*Assistance to the front! The rioters are headed here!* Swift said urgently to the servants, who were all rushing out of the room in a moment ( ... )
