Question about Sylar's ability; Angels and Monsters

In this week's Heroes Rewatch of Season 3's Angels and Monsters, there was a line that really jumped out at me. Canfield had summoned a vortex that threatened to suck Claire, Noah and Sylar inside. Claire almost went in. Sylar grabbed her hand and saved her. After the vortex vanished and the three began to recover, Sylar said, "Claire, you hate me ( Read more... )

I thought Sylar got clairsentience at some point? Can't remember when, but if it was before this, then I guess it works on people as well as objects.

Yeah, that was Bridget's power. Looks like the consensus is that it's either clairsentience or his own empathy as an outgrowth/facet of IA. Either way, I'll be watching carefully about who he touches from now on, if he can get that sort of read from a couple seconds of contact while thoroughly distracted by a raging vortex o' doom!

I think it's D. It's been awhile, but I remember Sylar having a power that allowed him to feel the memories/feelings of others through touch.
Or it could be a bit of his own empathy.

Bridget's power, clairsentience, allowed him to get memories from objects. They weren't real specific about *people*, but then later when he has Nathan unconscious he says that if Nathan were awake he could tap his memories.

Or yeah, could be something pre-existing with his own empathy.

Thanks!

Easy answer: Empathy. Closet-empath, remember? Thus far on the show, its only happened with women he's been fairly close to: Lydia, Elle, and (I would count, in this instance and in Let it Bleed) Claire.

Yeah. He talked about doing it with Nathan, though. (::mind goes off in the pervy gutter::) But he passed on that. Apparently sleeping folks don't work.

It certainly means I'll be paying extra attention to who he touches.

Yeah. I guess it's just hard for me to imagine that someone who can touch people and sense their feelings would be a killer on the scale Sylar was. And he seemed to take such smirking joy in it, too. But, you know, I've known people who seemed like they deeply understood the human condition, and yet who still lashed out hurtfully at others, smirking joy included.

Or C. Because yeah, unexplained things just are.

I do know that Lydia's power was to know people's desires and hopes along with locating people throughout time. Supposedly anyway. So, Sylar got that ability from her. I guess just reading plain emotions could be C and D working together?

Lydia's power would totally explain it, but in Angels and Monsters, he hasn't met her yet. C and D sound good, though! No matter what the answer is, I think it has some C in there.
