My body's got this weird immunity to Jenova cells. I remember hearing the scientists in Nibelheim griping about it, and there was a big fuss in Midgar about whether or not I'd become a SOLDIER becase of it.

Every experiment needs a control, right? Maybe he was gonna test your abilities against a normal SOLDIER once he was done with you. If he couldn't use me to recreate Sephiroth he could at least use me as a test of strength. Or even whether or not Jenova could make you to kill a friend.
