It's the day before Valentine's Day. To Clark, however, it's just another day. In fact, chances are it hasn't even occurred to him that it's nearing on any sort of special occasion. As far as he's concerned, he and Anna are just meeting Chloe and Jimmy for a cup of coffee and small talk at the Talon. Nothing special

For once, it's Anna who wakes up first.

She takes advantage of this to prop herself up on one elbow and grin lazily down at Clark.

He's so cute when he's sleeping.

He shifts position ever so slightly and then his eyes flutter open slowly, followed by a small smile.

"Morning," he murmurs sleepily.

[downsidedarling]

"Bon matin, mon cher."

She kisses his forehead.

"Sleep well?"

[hero_farmboy]

Clark blinks a few more times and appears to be really thinking about that.

"Probably not as well as I should have, but it'll do."

[downsidedarling]

"Aww."

Grin.

"Why not?"

Anna has an inkling this might be at least partially her fault.

[hero_farmboy]

He smiles. "Well, there wasn't a whole lot of time devoted to actual sleep, was there?"

[downsidedarling]

"Okay, granted."

Bright grin.

What, she's supposed to be contrite about this? Pssh. Yeah, right.

[hero_farmboy]

"Yeah, I can see you're all broken up about that," he teases, smile widening. "But while I may like getting a lot of sleep, I don't technically need it, so I'll be fine."

[downsidedarling]

"Well, I can hardly be expected to regret such a well-spent night," she teases back.

[hero_farmboy]

"Never said you had to," he says, catching one of her hands and threading his fingers with hers.

[downsidedarling]

"Bien," responds Anna, kissing him lightly on the cheek. "'Cause I'm not gonna."

[hero_farmboy]

"I'd possibly be a little offended if you did, anyway."

[downsidedarling]

Airily: "Wouldn't want that."

[hero_farmboy]

"Of course not," he agrees, bringing her hand up to be kissed. "I might start thinking it's not worth my while to keep trying to change your mind."

[downsidedarling]

She chuckles.

"Y'know the last thing in the world I want to do is offend you, cheri."

(It's oddly reminiscent of something else she's said to him, a long time ago. The memory throws her off for a second.)

[hero_farmboy]

He smiles at her again. "I know." And then he sits up a little to look at the clock before flopping back down on the mattress. "Good, I can relax for at least a few more minutes."
