I put my application in today for the advancement. I confess, I stalled for a long time, while I continued to ponder it. I have been getting a lot of support for applying though and seemed silly no to. So.. now is the very, veyr long wait for the big ass of government to move. probably be late September before I hear if they want an interview ( Read more... )

Having had Lyme Disease also, I did some research. It is in fact possible to get re-infected from a new tick bite. On the other hand, I've been incredibly reckless and have managed not to contract it again. So far.

Sorry! :(

Ack. I thought as much. I blame ticks on the spiteful christian god. ;-)

Speaking of which, I'm sure this was not the artist's intent, but the image on your icon is awfully Old Testament-y!

Glad the workouts have been going well! Gary and I have been workin' out together for the last couple of weeks. We're still getting back in the swing of things after a hiatus, but it feels great. If your man ever wants to stop on by after work, tell him he's always welcome!

And yes, Thomas Jane is definite inspiration. He had a totally average build before that movie.

Thanks. Yeah, back after a long layoff myself and it does feel great - psych and phys. It is very cool that you guys live close enough to workout together regularly. Having workout partners really helps to keep it steady - responsibility to another to get over the occassional lack of enthusiasm and show up for it.

I will forward the invitation when I speak to him. It would be definitely be good for him. He is in the last 2 weeks of this contract and they are working him really hard to squeeze everything out of him they can before he goes. BUT he should still be working out!

BTW... are you hosting a blot the first Sat of November and is it open and, if it is, can I come? If so, I want to put it in my calendar before something else gets scheduled!

Are you sure they're ticks? Ticks don't flock, and what you've got sounds like chiggers to me.

And, yes, you can get Lyme's over and over...

Yeah.. they are ticks. They are tiny in the larva stage, but you can see the little buggers and their six wiggly legs. They bite - do not go under the skin.

Male and female ticks usually mate while attached to the host. A few weeks later, the engorged female detaches from the host and lays her eggs (1000 - 8000 eggs) on a leaf. A tick usually lives a year before dying. - http://www.afraidtoask.com/lyme/lymelifecycle.html

If you are unlucky enough to walk past that leaf during the big hatching... well, you become the nursery for as many of the 100-8000 larva that can hitch a ride. Ick.
