I am so much more zen about a lack of structured plans than I was years ago (for which I largely credit Joe), and this weekend's trip was testing my zen, but really I was good.  It didn't feel like a pseudo-birthday trip, but I enjoyed seeing people ( Read more... )

Not anything particularly heavy or profound, I just see the print ads in the T all the time and the "easy answers to life's hard questions" promote such juvenile dishonesty -- like the one about yard work which suggests attaching leaves to gloves via epoxy so it looks like you've spent the afternoon doing yard work -- and it turns my stomach. Hello, me and my Honesty Issues, plus my general reaction against juvenile stupidity.

Andre Norton's been dead for a while, but she was know as the Grand Dame of Sci-fi/Fantasy in her later years. I believe she did a lot to encourage younger authors when they were starting out, I think Mercedes Lackey was one of the ones she helped out.

Heh, is my friend's roommate.

I intend to never live with animals, personally. (I'm not allergic, so visiting pet-owners is okay, but yeah.)

I'm a fandom slut, sure; I'm just not much of a pairing slut. :p

It was brilliant to see you. Wish there could have been more time, and group-time, but . . . soon, I hope.

Which is a totally valid lifestyle choice ;)

It was comforting (though unsurprising) how easy it was to fall into conversation space with you and with Emma, despite the fact that we haven't necessarily been in touch with great frequency.

*laughs* I rather miss being "validated."

It was very lovely, though I do find that's how most of my friendships operate these days (and I'm grateful for it). Though I think I could use more time to get into slightly more in-depth conversation again, which would be one advantage to living closer.

Haha, I use "validate" an obscene amount of times.

Yeah, some months back I noticed that in my interaction with some friend or other and recalled you telling me that about Beck and you some years back. Wow was that a non-sensical-sounding sentence. But basically: Yeah, me too.
