The If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. meme has been showing up more and more on my flist. (I'd mostly been seeing it, and the backlash thereto, on friendsfriends.) it's odd--that whole "if you don't post this, you're clearly our enemy" philosophy of memes goes right back to junior high, where the most common insult, quite coincidentally, tends to be:

"gay."

As in "if you do/don't do X, that means you're gay!"

It comes from almost everywhere these days, doesn't it? The "if you don't send this e-mail on/re-post this meme/what-have-you then you're so TOTALLY not with us." I am uncomfortable with forwards and most surveys and petitions. If I feel strongly about something, then I might say something or sign something to that effect. But if I don't feel strongly about it, what business is it of yours?
Stupid clique-ish people. Stop passing on junior high "wisdom", please.
