I like this theology of the cross.

Because I grew up Catholic, the Stations of the Cross are very deeply embedded in how I see the cross. Because that is a journey of pain, but also a journey of community, where people go with Jesus (reluctantly or passionately) and Jesus, dying, still offers Eirself to Eir community.

I didn't grow up with Stations of the Cross, so I'm not familiar with them, and hadn't thought of them as having a community aspect.

Also, I really enjoy the neologism Eir/self.

Someone I know (I forget who) who prefers gender-neutral pronouns prefers zie/eir to zie/hir, and I confess that I do too ("hir" is so hard to say and gets mistaken so easily for "her"!), so I've adopted it.
