He's a satirist. Once they're successful, they often get WAAAY blasphemous and freehanded with whatever they want to insult, because they've run out of more non-offensive material--AND they start to believe that God had nothing to do with their success, that it was all them. (Paraphrasing the great George Carlin himself, whom Christianity lost when his wife died and he had asked God not to take her but He did anyway . . . that's also a paraphrase and not exact.) BUT ANYWAY, that's where satire "dares to go."

However . . . many people have ALREADY taken Christ out of His birthday celebration, and it has been going on a long time. They are actually doing Saturnalia, or Solstice Party, or something else. It's just that they don't call it that. They really have forgotten the reason for the season, and when materialism fails them (such as in a recession), perhaps they go into a blue funk and can't understand why the holidays are so depressing. . ..

Oh, I love it when he throws down about religion. Did you know he actually teaches Sunday school?

One of my friends actually sings in the choir at his church.

I have such a crush on the man.

The scary thing is, I know conservatives who don't realize Steve Colbert is really a liberal, mocking them. They think he is serious, and on their side.
