On a totally hedonistic note asexual visibility would in general make my life easier because for me dating someone who is asexual no matter what their orientation would be about as productive as me trying to date a gay man. I simply do not see it working.
As regard to the actual question the frustrating thing about political grouping is that not everyone shares the same goals so that you have to have everyone who all has sorta the same goals together so that you can accomplish something politically. (Gay marriage for example.) On the other hand when questions come up like "Should transgendered people be part of the queer movement or form their own?" I have learned to just close my eyes and duck to avoid flames.
